Trailhead Break-ins

It’s become a real issue in the front country around here, 10 cars at a time kind of rampage levels. One fella had his rig parked 10km up a logging road and came back to his truck up on logs & his wheels missing!
I leave my truck unlocked, and just leave the bare essentials in it, figure it’s better to loose $200 worth of tool and stuff than to have a lock popped or a window smashed.
But what I would love to find is a discrete pinhole camera that installs in the dashboard to capture facial pictures. Does anyone know of a product like that?

You could use a dashcam with a dual front/rear facing camera setup although my first thought was using a game camera on a tree overlooking where you parked it.

I always lock up and added glass coverage to my insurance because to me it's worth paying a little extra just to increase the odds they get sliced while doing it

Would add that the Chiliwack-Veddar River and even the Coquihala River have always experienced large of numbers of break-ins. The Fraser River can be nasty too if there are lots of salmon and anglers around.

The rule of thumb in SW British Columbia is NEVER leave a spare fishing rod in your vehicle. Keep your vehicle as clean of temptation as possible. It also probably helps to give up on these places.....

I don’t go into the Chilliwack river valley anymore, too many yahoos and break ins. And am super reluctant to leave my truck parked at any of the lower mainland trailheads that are on a 2wd highway.

Yeah.... I stopped fishing the Chilliwack river years ago. I am willing to do what it takes to defend self, family, friends but get involved in a violent altercation for the sake of recreational fishing? No thanks.

Between you and me, BCXterra, we must smashing down a few illusions about Canada among our American friends! For perspective, I have never lived anywhere else in Canada that has the kind of violent and property crime rates found in southwestern British Columbia. Greater Vancouver is the targeted shooting capital of Canada. Like with all public gunfire, innocents also die.

What Canada has crime? and shootings?. BUT BUT your strict Firearm laws. and Friendly Country men.. should never have such crimes.. and parking in the woods.. safe.. ;-)

If humans are near.. Crime is near.. We tend to camp, in remote locations. Times we be in camp laying low, when Odd car would drive past slowly. Amazing how many Side arms come out and hide under the Coffee mug.. ;-).

Best thing is Trail cam's.. place least two of them covering front and back. Bad part.. takes time and Dirt bag might be Watching..

Hate thieves.. They have more rights now!!. and get trophy too!!..
