TPS? If you could just go ahead and search for TPMS from now on... that would be great ;)

I got a set of the VDO SE10001HP TPMS sensors when I put new tires on our '06 last year and they've worked well. This was the consensus of the best replacement when I looked into it a year ago.

Discount Tire installed them along with the new tires, but I bought the sensors locally at Advance Auto with a coupon code for around $40 each. Could have purchased them cheaper if I was willing to wait for shipping (rockauto as linked above), but needed them right away. IIRC Discount wanted $60 each for the parts.

Are you looking to replace them because you just dont want to see the red light on your dash?
most tire shops around me charge about $100 per tire installed. $400 total. however you can just make the light go away with time and minimal cost. Check out this video on youtube this may help.

$100/tire seems a bit absurd. I mean, it's not much more actual labor than mounting the tire, so they're really gouging if that's what they want for such a job.

As for the video, not only is that process labor-intensive, it's worth mentioning that tampering with the vehicle's safety equipment could have consequences down the road. If the vehicle is sold to someone else and this modification is done but not disclosed, there's a potential lawsuit. Not saying that it's likely, but possible.

While it may seem absurd, the local tire shop I use does charge about $80 per tire for new TPMS when you buy new tires.

Ya know, it takes a lot of effort to go to the bin, grab 4, and take out the old and put in the new when you're mounting a tire. Why a guy could get plumb exhausted doin' all that there xtra labor stuff. ;)

For people that have bought TPMS from Rock Auto - how long are the exposed valve stems? My four stock wheels have short stems and my 5th I got from a Frontier is longer. I am picking up a new set of 5 and am hoping to get the shorter ones so there’s less exposed to grab onto a rock.
