I almost clicked it, but then remembered the "don't click Jim's links" warning from earlier.....

Back in "class" this morning.

Doc wants to put me on cholesterol meds and I'm going to start taking them, but in the mean time I'm going to revamp my diet some and see if I can make some head way on my own.

Wanting to do salads for lunch at work. Cut out some more carbs and probably beer at home for the time being. Trying to brain storm options for cooking at home like tuna steak instead of hamburger and also need to get the gym membership back.

I like mushrooms but mostly in a salad. Got some baby portabellos the other day for my steak and ate one raw. I didn't hate it but it's gonna be a hard sell for standalone snacking.
When I was trying to loose weight last year I was eating them at least three times a week. I would very how I used them.

Sorry to hear the cholesterol's high [ as i make scrapple & egg's ] I've gone to cereal 2 day's in a row then egg's and something on day 3, more grilled chicken then fried. Mayonnaise only on one piece of sandwich bread not both, 1 soda every other day and more water/green tea. I've been hovering around 210-214 for the last 5 year's but I still need to knock off about 15 . Been thinking about that total gym to tone up a bit but a helping of self motivation is what I need to do for me.

I'm open for suggestions! Variety is the spice of life and without spice I'll be back on steaks and potatoes in no time....
I would use them in salads, big portobellos as burgers, cook them and put them on toast, stir fry, chop them up and add them to lean hamburger, add them to pasta sauce these are a few suggestions. Mushrooms are a super food really if you do some research you would be surprised at their health benefits. I use to go out and hunt for them all the time except in the spring for morels I find there are plenty of tastier options out there.

Look at different low fat salad dressing's for dipping the shroom's in, Brianna's honey dijon has 0 cholesterol and it taste's really good. More fish/seafood is a plus . When I quit smoking may 23 2018 I packed on a few pound's because everything tasted so much better [ even the liquor ]

For toning, look into body weight exercises like push ups and squats. Again, something I KNOW and neglect to do because I'm a lazy ass. But I'm looking at the gym for the cardio machines and hot tub. It was nice to go to the gym, get on an elliptical and listen to a pod cast or something and not worry about some jerk doing 10 over creaming me on the narrow paved road I live off of.

Motivation is something I wish they sold in jars. I could use a couple extra helpings a day...

I'll check into that! I think celery and baby carrots are going to be big snack items around the house but I'll have to fight Elder Minion for the carrots. She'd eat nothing but if we'd keep them in the house. Healthy? Yes. Annoying AF when you go to get a handful for yourself? YES....

I don't even want to think about the amount of sodium in that.... I've been on BP meds since I was 27. One great grand parent with a pace maker, 2 of my grand parents died of cancer, one had heart problems and one just went mad. Both parents had heart attacks in their 50's (Dad had 5 bypasses and Mom got 3 stints) and then Mom died of cancer in '15.

You'd think with a family history like that I'd be a freaking health nut but it just hasn't sunk in yet I guess.... Dumbass young Terry done f'd me!

I need to get back on BP meds, I have been off of them for over a year now. My wife's insurance dropped me (for a stupid reason) and my DR. Retired so I have not been able to get more of them. I finally was able to get insurance through my work so I'm going to have to find a new DR. And get back on them.

I was hitting stroke level numbers when I finally decided to go get checked. With in a few days, it was a completely different world!!! It seemed like time had slowed down. I guess it was causing so much stress on my system that I was nearly in a state of panic on a daily basis.

Man , I don't what to say about that ! Cancer and diabetes got a grip on my family tree pretty good , every one that died of cancer smoked !!! Having American indian on both side's of the family is like a diabetic crap shoot . I stayed in good shape while commercial fishing till I was in my 30's and then when I stopped doing that the extra weight started lurking in the shadow's so that need's to be remedied

I hear you when my dr. Was checking my bp before he put me on meds he just looked at me and asked if I was feeling ok. I looked at him confused and he said he is surprised I am not having a stroke right now. He them proceeded to run a ekg test before I could leave the office. My bp when I first got put on the drugs was 230 over 114 it was crazy high.

My record bottom number was 119 taken in my recliner by my wife the week before I went on the meds. I was having trouble breathing and my eyes were even pounding. That was some scary stuff..

Sound's to me like we need to do a better job of keeping up with our health so maybe one day at an X or offroad event we can break bread together [ Slang for popping a top ] :)
