Definitely the 233 SAS kit. For sure.

I've seen Will's 1st gen Fronty and that's a NICE kit.

But that dream probably won't happen. What I ACTUALLY want to build for later in life is:

CJ6 (yes, 6)
4.0L EFI
AW4
NP241OR
D44/9in
Radius arms front, leaf springs rear
35's
3ish" lift
Full top and family cage
Build an overland type setup I can tow behind a motor home. Wife works travel nursing, I drive the motor home and do laundry and explore in my Jeep.

Why a 6? Just out of curiosity.

If I did the Heep thing again, I think I'd buy another YJ. Comes stock with fuel injection, but everything else is bone basic.

The CJ6 is about the same overall length as a CJ8, but has a longer wheel base. Better depature angle, longer rear drive shaft for better u-joint life and it's unique.

What is the logic for this? I get big ass noise cancelling headphones, but ear buds? Cmon.

"They're a distraction that could lead to unsafe working conditions or a slip in quality".

They're way less of a distraction than a dozen different stereos blasting a dozen different genres of music at the same time...

Anyway, one of the higher-ups called me in to talk about it. Long story short, they are going to reconsider.

good news is that this mac n cheese is tasty.

bad news is at work the UI updated on our logs for the ELD mandate..... shiat is honestly annoying. before it was just log my pretrip and post trip and the logs would go from driving when i start actually driving and go to on duty not driving when i shut the truck off and i wasnt required to post a remark for the service change. now its log the pretrip, confirm my trailer for the day, drive, then manually go on duty and select "loading" in the remarks tab, drive, then manually enter on duty "unloading" and repeat. that and i also half to log fueling now too. as for the log automatically going to on duty when the truck is off or not moving with the brakes set in 5 minutes a message will pop and ask if i would like to go to on duty not driving. i also then need to make sure that the load ID numbers are correct for each load and that it still has my trailer. luckily i still have my 30 minute break exemption on there but i think my 16 hour clock is now gone. atleast the my companies grandfather clause is still in affect til the end of the month cuz i totally forgot to log my loadf and unload of my first load cuz i wasnt used to having to do all this shiat yet.

I hate when something that works good and is simple gets replaced with junk like that.

Good news and bad news.

Good: they are spending money on software updates, so that keeps guys like me happy and employed.
Bad: they are going to look at how much time you waste messing around in the system, declare that you have just become too inefficient, and replace you with a robot soon.

/rant It is always super-annoying when someone does a software update, without actually involving the people that the update affects. Us devs are just given a set of requirements, so half the time we don't actually know what the standard job process is like and can't design the UI to be efficient and easy to use for the people that have to do that every day.

Dream Build.

2012 5.6L Pathy.
4 link rear
SAS front
Custom cage
37s

Edit - And Dana 60's

Notes: Longer wheel base than X. Rear doors easier to get in and out of. Already has the 5.6L. No worries about emissions B/S or registration cheap.

Yea, that would be sweet. I was really really close to dumping mine and buying a v8 pathy when I blew the engine in my xterra. I had very similar plans.

Well if you ever consider a Pathy again, build 2. I will buy the other from ya:).

IMO the wheelbase is perfecto! I never knew how much more accessible the rear doors were either. Which would be a huge plus for my elderly 83lb dog.

Wonder how many “old school” drivers will have issue with all that

I love my wife's 11 Pathy. I really wanted one with a v8 but not one I found would budge on the price. When I bought it back in 14 there was an 11 v8 up in Jersey that was the EXACT same truck but with the v8. I couldn't justify the extra 3k they wanted for it.

Just to clarify, I blew the engine in my xterra. Almost switched but realized it was a lot less work to just replace the engine. Boring.

while its know secret that some little dweeb with a degree from MIT is working on AI trucks. in all honesty i dont see that ever touching my line of trucking. i haul fuel in a city and with current AI heavily relying on road markings for guidance. as so as it pulls off the interstate it is going to shiat itself when it sees the horrible roads of Milwaukee. plus id like to see an AI truck back in and out of tight stations with traffic. im not entirely against the idea though. so long as there is a driver present if the AI freaks out or whatever and that you dont cut his pay or have an excuse not to raise it. if anything electric cars will be my enemy. but with as big of a grip big oil has on everything, especially lobbing politicians id say i have another 30 years of pretty stable fuel hauling work.

After spending so much time building the X. If I ever buy another purpose built vehicle again, it will be one that already has the major stuff done already. I feel like I have lived in my driveway for a year straight. Though some build stuff is fun. I'd rather be wheelin'.

I always get a laugh of these guys that claim that autonomous driving is only a few years out. Where I live, it is hard to distinguish the lines on the road for a significant portion of the year, good luck having some stupid little camera try to keep a vehicle going on its own. It does have its purposes (long-haul, thus letting the "driver" not have to concentrate so much and thus risk driving off the road), but I don't think it is going to come nearly as quickly as a lot of people hope.

Also, while electric is nice, it also has issues in the cold due to decreased battery efficiency, and the fact that they heat needs to be generated instead of just leaching off the natural heat that an engine produces. And the severe lack of charging infrastructure anywhere. Electrics ain't exactly ready to go where I can take the X, without pretty much guaranteeing I would be stuck in the bush waiting for a solar panel to recharge it for a few weeks...
