More info needed. Which is “House Harrison” version of Dune? Why is this the first I’m hearing about a new Dune film/series?
House Lynch is the original 1984 movie
House Harrison is the 2000 miniseries produced for scifi

I found out about the new movie doing an imdb search for who played Irulian. I'm not sure about Zendeya playing Chani; she'll always be a little Disney made singer to me.

Dune is a scifi political epic written by Frank Herbert in the 60's and 70's. The main sequence is six books. The first book, Dune, has been produced twice, once in 84 by David Lynch and again in 2000 as a tv miniseries by John Harrison. This upcoming revision is by Denis Villeneuve and is his own vision of the story. The story centers around three of the great families of the universe, House Atreides, House Harkonnen, and House Corrino, and their plots to control the most valuable substance in the universe which is only found on one planet. Spoiler: it's poop.

It's definitely not for everyone. The 84 movie, some theaters actually handed out cheat sheets to viewers to help them understand what was going on. The Extended Edition helps explain better with a 15 minute history at the beginning, but is also over 3 hours long. The miniseries is more faithful to the book, but I don't particularly care for the actor's portrayal of Muad'dib and the whole thing feels like a stage play. The books are not an easy read. I've listened to the first two twice, the third once, and have bailed on the fourth for now. I am planning on tackling the fourth again after I finish the Spellmonger series.

I'm aware of Dune and have seen the movie. I have a friend with the book series I'm intending to read them I finish the "Foundation" series.

I didn't understand the use of the last name with it as indicating different productions vs different story lines.

I have liked the 84 version since I saw it as a kid. I have a beta max version kicking around somewhere. I still haven't watched the mini series yet. I should start getting the audio books for my next series to work on.

Hadn't heard of the foundation series before. But looks good. Will add to my list.

The first several books are really good. They peter off near the end. I'm on the 2nd to last and have been struggling through it for months.

My buddy and I exchange series when we need something new to read. I have his Altered Carbon series I read the first book in before watching the series on Netflix. Need to read the other two next then get on Dune.

I read the Gunslinger series last year and it was excellent.

I was given the first gunslinger book when I was 12. I collected the hardbacks, reading them as they came out, and re read the entire series Including the supplemental side stories every year.

Stephen Kings brilliant in the way that series is the lynch pin of his whole universe.
