//I made the seats leather
///didn't come that way

I really did try to do all the research I could before my purchase. Of course it was after the X was already loaded on the truck to Sacramento that I read about the passenger seat not folding flat if you have the leather pack... which my new baby does have. So of course now I have stupid questions...

1. In the above photo is that seat shown "folded flat"?
2. Prime did you really "make the seats leather"? Re-cover? Changed seats? Maybe just cracking wise?
3. If I do have an issue folder the passenger seat flat is it really that big of a deal?

Too late to return it now but I'd like to get my head right about it and not feel like I made a big mistake... unless I did and then I'll just suck it up and drive on. :)

Pretty sure the general consensus for the X is a 6 ton bottle jack.

CAchief (or anyone) I'm shopping for a bottle jack now but some of the things I'm seeing on the net talk about the jacks often times not being tall enough. I sure would like to avoid that situation with my new purchase. I "believe" my X is stock with regard to tire size and lifts but I'd like to be able to handle it if I bump the tire size a bit or whatever. Should I stop worrying and just buy one of the Pro-Lift. All-trade or Big Red jacks I see on Amazon?

Yes. Tha is indeed the fold flat position.

My truck came with cloth. I bought a leather kit from Roadwire. Removed all the cloth, threw it in the garbage and recovered the foam in leather that matches the interior of the truck. I also replaced the bottom of the driver's seat with new OE foam and installed heating elements in the front seats though I haven't wired them up yet.

I honestly never use the fold flat. I put it down and took a picture just for the sake of argument. Because 86.4% of the time I am "cracking wise" as you put it.

You'll be fine with the standard bottle jack. I think the people writing those reviews are jacking up the truck by the frame. Using the leaf spring pad or differential you'll have enough room.

Laugh yea that's one from back in Jersey when you can't think of anything better to replace "talking s***". Thank you though for the info as I now feel quite a bit better. :)

Outstanding though I must warn you that I have an inexhaustible supply of stupid questions in the hopper. Like this one... I see some of these bottle jacks also double as a jack stand. Should I stay away from that or consider it? The biggest thing I see is the footprint as the "combo" jacks have a larger "square" base that the standard bottle jacks do not seem to have. Thank you!

I personally did not go that route but

I personally did not go that route but when I did my research I came across other people who acquired that product and were happy with it. I think @AlbatrossCafe uses one.

I have the Harbor Freight 6 ton bottle jack I keep in the back, and a hi-lift under the rear seat. For the hi-lift, I have an attachment for sliders, one that hooks onto the wheel spokes, and the base (which can also be used with the bottle jack).

I do have the Powerbuilt one. I've used it prob ~10-15 times. I keep it in the back right up against the rear seat with a bungee. Sometimes it is hard to get it to retract, and it jacks very slowly. I would like a higher quality one, but the idea/concept of it is perfect for trail work. Way better than a hi-lift

That's the issue with so many products today. I can't find a better one. Both of the jacks I linked had some negative comments about leaking, not going all the way down or whatever but they were the best I could find. Thank you sir and I love the picture. Is that a compressor in the foreground?

I believe this is the updated model of what what I got. It seems to have improved - most notably it has 5 "jack stand" points instead of only 3. Mine leaks just like you read. It's unfortunate cus it is a fantastic idea. The time I used it above I literally had to drive off of it cus I couldn't get it lower lol. If you find a better one, I would love to grab it as well

That's my box with all my recovery gear + my air hose on the top. Compressor is under the hood.

I liked that jack but it's only a 3 ton jack and I was looking for a 6 ton based on some feedback on this thread. I went ahead and ordered the Big Red I linked above and we'll see how it goes. I'll try not to expect to much. Thank you though, AlbatrossCafe for taking some of your time to help.

Why 6-ton? I didn't read through the whole thread, but our entire truck weighs less than 3 tons, not sure why you would need the 6. Also, the range of that Big Red is less than the Powerbuilt.

Just keep in mind as well that the "Big Red" does NOT include the "jack stand" functionality like the PowerBuilt does. So you definitely do not want to be under your truck in any way when using it

What "size" bottle jack should I buy? 3, 4, 8,10,12 or 20 tons? I don't really know the multiplier. The internet says the gross weight is 5,399 lbs, multiplied by 2x and you get 10,798 divided by 2000 lbs and you get 5.4 tons. But I don't know if the multiplier is 2x, 10x or whatever?

Please oh gobbles of stupid questions... please set me straight.

Pretty sure the general consensus for the X is a 6 ton bottle jack.

Roger that on the jack vs combo jack/jack stand. I was really considering one but couldn't find a 6 Ton capacity. I think the "double the weight" rating is for safety purposes. The range seems to be more for the Red but there are several different measurements on those pages so I don't know which one "counts". The thing that helped make my decision other than the price was the comments and the level of heat in the buyer's statements. ex. "leaking" is a lot better comment than "broke" or "failed". Hope I don't get a wet box. :)

Are these two weepy spots something I need to worry about? No clue how long it may have been like this. Right behind the crossmember between transmission and transfer case.

I just picked up my new baby four hours ago and I can't get the rear hatch open. I read the owners manual and it seems that the only (?) way to open it is with the key. Put it in, turn to the right and open. Well the key won't turn when it's all the way in. I blew the keyhole out with compressed air and cleaned it up but the key just doesn't turn. Is that he ONLY way to unlock/open the tailgate? I couldn't find a switch on the dash and using the fob didn't unlock anything. Thank you!

The power locks unlock the hatch. Either with the fob or the door switch. If that doesn't happen then it sounds borked.

I think you are right. I did some searching on the net and the lock cylinder seems to seize up. Supposedly you can get at it from the inside if you pull off a plastic panel, undo three bolts yadda yadda. I'll probably take it to the dealer and pay what I have to so all the locks work from the same key. Thank you sir.

They should work from the same key unless someone changed something.
Oh I mean I'm expecting them to change out the lock in the back an then give me an additional key. Which I don't want so if I have to pay for new door locks or to have the back one chambered to the existing keys then I will. Already have a service appointment tomorrow and my buddy is going with me tonight to give it a bit of a thrash and see what else falls out before I take it in.
Is the key excessively worn down?
Doesn't look like it and I'm fortunate enough to have both primary keys and the valet key. None of them work though I'm not sure if the valet is supposed to open the liftgate lock. Thank you for asking.

For others with a stock bumper and aftermarket skid - did you secure the bumper somehow or leave it? Mine seems to be a little wiggly. Haven’t noticed it vibrating or anything yet but I’d feel better if it weren’t moving. If it falls off and I have to get an aftermarket I may end up dead or divorced.

Another skid question: how often to repaint? I think I’m the meantime I might just wire brush, wipe with acetone, and hit it with either rust reformer or the hammered paint/primer combo.

Probably water draining but keep an eye on it. My transmission output started leaking. That's a shiatty job, I've done it twice now. Once for just the seal and once to do the seal and replace my hashed t-case.

Like 13 bolts around the flange and having to remove that pressed in cross member.

Then yes, hoping it’s just water!

Take a look at the Z1 Offroad heater hose fitting with bleed valve . Although I had the shop put this on when they replaced the transmission and radiator they said it helped .

Since I'm changing out leaf springs, should I bother with greaseable shackles? As far as I know my stock ones have had no issues after 6 years, so I'm inclined to leave it. I have polyurethane bushings coming. Not sure which grease is best for that (if that impacts the decision), but I'll google that shortly.

I think I found answers online. Seems like if I do the poly bushings, they need to be maintained with lube or else be noisy. But the cheaper and less noisy option are rubber bushings, which some argue shouldn’t be lubed at all.

I'm looking at sliders and I'm not sure which is best... bolt on or welded on. There seems to be strong voices supporting both those options. Thoughts?

Depends on the mounting points. White Knuckle Offroad is what I have, and they have three welded plate attachment points that bolt to the side and bottom of that frame. Sliders like Hardcore Offroad offer just a tiny bracket that only bolts to the side, and I definitely feel that has to be welded to actually work.

It doesn't matter what sliders you're looking at. You're going to get White Knuckle and be thrilled with your purchase. Nobody makes better sliders.
I have them on my list but haven't looked at them yet. So far I like these the best:

I'll be looking at the White Knuckles asap and thank you!
