"The Big 3" Electrical Grounds...How and why?

Hey Xterra Nation folks, Can someone explain more about why the Big 3 electrical grounds from the alternator is a must-do mod?

Also, I tried to find a How To for the Big 3 but failed to find one. Anyone have a link?
