Used a gift card to buy my first 4kUHD movies for the ps5. Got the Raimi Spider-man Trilogy. Can’t wait to see what it looks like. I’ve streamed 4k so far but as discussed before with Blu-ray’s and etc, it’s not the same.

I still don't own a 4k TV. Haha. I honestly don't care. 1080p looks great to me. Next new one will be OLED tho. Just for the black levels.

"Laying off workers to cut costs for EVs"...

That part seriously made me giggle then sigh.

Just like the new automated McDonald’s. People like the idea of things but then freak the ufck out when there are consequences to not fully thinking something through. Looking at you burger flipper wanting $25 an hour….

Someone should have been honest with those low wage workers when the "living wage" bullshiat started. They needed to be told those are jobs for high-school and college kids not adults raising 3 kids.

Its unfortunate some many people have so little drive. I saw a story about a guy that worked at BK for like 20 years and the franchisee gave him a small award gift bag for it. A bunch of people on social media flipped out saying the owner was a POS. My first thought however was. Man 20 years and the dude is still running the grill? In high school when I worked at McDonald's I was a shift leader in 6 months and I was high most of the time! Basically showed up on time and came in a few times when they called because someone was out. How ufcking basic do you need to be to work fast food for 20 years and never get promoted off the entry job?

This. So much this. I don’t get it, and it’s getting a lot worse.

And people preaching to kids they can do whatever they want, just go to college, is really causing a ton of damage. There aren’t many degrees worth getting, and now the kids are all entitled because they were taught to be.

Soon to be. She was originally ordered to be a show truck but the guy didn’t like the way the frame color turned out, has 745 miles on it and everything peterbilt will put on one
Wow. What a nice truck. I know you’ve posted photos of your tow truck but do you also drive cross country? (Also pretty sure I can’t even afford the tires on that dude ;). )

Probably not, but dont feel bad, company credit cards exist for a reason.
its basically otr in a wrecker here, we do so much stuff crossing state lines and what not here its kinda ridiculous, think I've racked up somewhere around 4500 miles the month of december, so far.

it too will be a wrecker of sorts, if you look closely at the back you can see that we're in the process of mounting this

Ok here’s my assessment of 4k. It’s cool. Especially in certain scenes like the one I mentioned. BUT, in my opinion not worth the change to upgrade an old blu-ray collection. Other than those scenes, you can really only tell the difference if you’re really looking. Will pick up occasionally when I get gift cards and such like I did with spidey but not going out of my way to get them.

two things:

1. I completely understand this concern, and with the state of politics can see how it could play out that way regardless of whichever party is in charge to try to appease one large demographic for polls, and still maximize corporate greed for corporate donors. Theoretically the skilled rate should go up as the minimum rate goes up though.

2. From a purely economical standpoint, pretty much anyone here should be pissed at how wages have stagnated compared to inflation/cost of living since the 50s (exponentially since the 70s), regardless of being a minimum wage worker or a skilled or trained worker. We are all being ripped off, unless someone here is a secret CEO.

X100%

As unskilled labor pays more, they will be forced to pay skilled labor more. Am I going to flip burgers for $20/hr or run my ass off in a dangerous paper mill on the bottom job? You want fries with that ma'am?

My pay is worth ~38% less than it was when I started working here in 2009.
