Oh, i totally get it. Unfortunately eGPU is a hard pass from me. I want to be able to edit on the move, and having to lug around a large second device just doesn't cut it. My current laptop I got for free, and has dual gtx 560m cards in it. Believe it or not, it can still handle 4k footage with the gpus.

Makes me wonder if it can do 4k raw from the blackmagic cams. I might have to snag some footage from work and do a test.
What software do you use? BRAW can be more CPU-bound on things like Premiere than Resolve due to how the plugins are handled, so your GPU might not be as much of a bottleneck in that instance.

Interesting.

(Anyone else see Eternals yet?)

I haven’t, but my wife did on Saturday. She said it was weird, had some gaping plot holes, and said the acting was B rating at best. I might go see it just for the special effects. But ever since Endgame, I just haven’t been excited about anything they’ve put out besides Loki. I liked Black Widow alright, but was hoping for more of a prequel than her being stuffed in between two Avengers movies.

Oh, I'm fully aware. Editing video is what I do for a living, as well as 3d graphics and after effects (hence the gpu requirements).

At home, it's 100% resolve, but at work we're currently using premier pro, though we shoot raw on blackmagic cams. We're using premier for a multitude of reasons, but are contemplating making a switch.

Your wife is right. They tried to to waaaay too much. Didnt watch black widow. Mostly because I dont like Scarlett Jo as an actress.

Wait, its not a prequel?

Nope. She’s on the run after she refused to sign the Sokovian Accords, and winds up fighting her old mentor/boss. There are references to her past, and a scene at the beginning, but overall, they used the movie to introduce some other Russian chick to take over since Black Widow died in Endgame.

Yah, figured I'd give you a heads-up as not all video guys know the software/hardware requirements, they just use what they are given by the company or what they are familiar with. I'm the IT guy at the video shop here, so I get to pay attention to that stuff, and I do a bunch of my own video work as a hobby. The guys here all use Premiere, had tried at one point to get them to evaluate Resolve but they didn't feel like there was enough of a benefit to rework all of their workflows, and we aren't primarily using BlackMagic cameras, so BRAW isn't a big factor here (except for the footage I provide).

My hobby work is shot on a BMPCC4k and edited with Resolve because I am too cheap to pay the stupid fees for Creative Cloud every month for something I'm not making money off of. Might upgrade to Studio at some point to get the GPU acceleration though. BRAW + Resolve is amazing though, once you get the processes all worked out. Such a dream to work with (which I am sure you already know).

Yeah, I've always sort of doubled as a video it guy in pretty much every job I've had.

Everybody at work was on a Mac until they hired me. I REFUSE to do 3d on a Mac. I basically forced them into buying me a pc. My 5k pc was faster than their 16k macs (and I spec'd more for 3d than editing). They ended up buying two 16 core threadripper machines which are twice as fast as mine (and about 3 times faster than the Mac pros).

I use resolve because I refuse to pay a monthly fee to Adobe for shiatty, buggy software that constantly breaks.

Anyways, I could go on about this stuff for hours, but I'm not gonna. Lol.

Went out to grab something from Gamora when I got home from work.....

No dome lights.

So I ordered a NOCO genius5. I've been thinking about getting one anyways, and this just sealed the deal.
I have a short circuit somewhere in my dome lights. Can't keep fuses. It sucks.
