Yeah.... I'm so on the fence. About the same monies I can SAS.....
SASing a 2nd Gen just makes it too big. You have to go super tall for the axle to clear the frame. It's imposing. Not sure it's worth it. I think if you were going to SAS something, go get a 1st Gen and it'll be cheap.

carrying a backpack on one shoulder and a hard sided cooler/lunchbox on the other I slipped on ice walking out to the truck 8n the parking lot at the house. Waited a cpl days for x-rays knowing there's not much that can be done with ribs but worried about my pain and breathing..

The cooler caught me right under the tit and spread those ribs apart a bit. It hurts but I didn't die, still sore af from the whiplash and ribs tho..
Dude. Stop that.

Morning. Got drunk last night. Went sledding with the kids already as well as cleaned the driveway and just started a batch of beef jerky in the smoker.
You're awfully ambitious today  You keep scoring brownie point's like this with the wifey you might be parking an X back in the driveway again !! :D

Or were you gonna hire a part-time barista from the local Gentlemen's club ??????? :)

But it only had 700...
Ugh....

A stupid....

So I got it home and the kids put almost two miles on it riding circles in the yard.

We washed it up some and after it dried I sat down with the manual and started reading up on maintenance items. I pulled the side cover off and was looking around and noticed some green electrical tape on the main harness.

After looking closer, this thing has had a small fire on the front end, but it toasted some of the harness wires and plugs. I messaged the guy and he strait up told me to bring it back for my money or he'd make it right somehow. So stand-up kinda guy.

I had already gotten almost the whole front end of and after thinking about it, decided to see how bad it was. Well, it is just the main harness, none of the control stalk harnesses or any major components appear damaged.

I told the guy that and he said a new harness is around $200, I'll refund you $400 or you can bring the bike back for your money. I took the $400 and just ordered the parts. It's already apart and I do like the bike. Plus I don't know that it's worth taking it back just to go hunting again. With the ATV trails in WV this close, it's hard to find sub-1k mile bikes, especially this age in this kinda shape.

So I'll toss the harness on it and then put it back together. This also gives me an excuse to tear it limb from limb and clean it up some more and check it all out. Plus the extra money paid for a couple little things I was gonna order for it anyways.

All in all, I still feel like I got a decent bike here. Heck, the harness wasn't completely killed. It probably would have run relatively trouble free for a long time. But there were some exposed wires and the copper was already dark green and black so it was likely to act up, and most likely on the trail 2 hours from home.

Is it just a co-inky-dink that the membership renewal's come in the middle of a Titan swap :cool: ""JUST KIDDING JAY"" Anyone who own's an Xterra knows "we" always seem to be tinkering/repairing/replacing or adding something aftermarket or helping someone else who is :)

Due's Pd yesterday $$

Kinda ironic that I've been helping out 1 - 3 day's a week at Adrenalin Offroad [ 95% jEeP's] to offset the cost of upgrade's to Odo  Lol

At least dude offered that much. That was pretty dope of him. Of course it would have been better to have disclosed that up front. But....

Elder minion also got the winch torn down. We're gonna clean it all up tomorrow and get it ready to put back together. I'm gonna put new drum seals/ bushings on it I think. Gotta figure out what kinda grease to use in it. It looks like a moly based grease. I wonder if the moly Valvoline wheel bearing grease I have would work in it?

I've been using the Marine grade grease from Lucas on Odo. It's about the same that I used to use on on my workboat . It just seem's like it's thicker/stickier then normal. But it's not molly based.

Warn recommends a low temp moly grease from the air/space industry. Aeroshell 33/ms which has been rebranded Aeroshell 64. $20/tube but if it protects the winch, then so be it. Supposedly using standard grease, like a wheel bearing grease, causes issues with the clutch/free spool because the added drag of the higher viscosity.

Anyways, ordered new drum bushings and a tube of grease for it. Should have it back together as soon as the pieces come in for it. Little old winch seems to be in really good shape. I was about half afraid it would be full of water and silt but it was clean inside. Figured I had it apart, the 15 year old grease could use a change.
