I have a serious need for some suggestions please. Also, don't get too harsh if I am lacking some basic knowledge, I am doing my best to absorb all I can as quickly as I can. I can handle being corrected and learning proper terms etc. I have both body and suspension lifts 6" and 4", I also used to have sway bars front and back but removed those and find it to be a lot more comfortable to drive on the bumpy, rocky dirt roads I have to drive up to get to and from my home. As well just less noisy. My problem is that I have these stupid Rancho shocks on my truck that no matter what I do they are just too stiff for my truck. It seems all shocks that fit my truck are more or less designed for larger, heavier trucks. So, my question is what kind; brand, model shocks would you recommend to have a much smoother ride that does not beat the holy hell out of my truck? I have had enough with these shocks for reals. I have already gone through 2 center links in less than a year and am about to be on my third. I do though know the fix and only place I can find that will build a beefier one. Just the damn shocks man. Thanks in advance-KB

The actual 1st Gen owners will probably better insight, but when I had my D21 (similar suspension set up) I liked the KYB GR-2/Excel(forget which is the new name). The ranchos I had on it before that were total garbage. I don’t know how the Lynsey are off-road since I put them on about a year before I sold the truck and 2-3 years since I had last even been on an fsr.

With the 2nd gen I’ve found Bilstein to be the best available off the shelf.

Dont worry about us, we wont ever roast you for asking questions or demand you search first. Its not what we do. As for shocks, I too think Bilstein are the best you can buy off the shelf. We would need just a bit more info about your lift, but they make lifted shocks for just about every configuration. And Rancho has historically (for me) been one of the stiffest shocks Ive ever encountered.

Cruise around this site for a bit, see what strikes your fancy.

So I'm clear, you have a six inch total lift, combination of body and suspension?

Yes indeed. That would be right.
