Squishy brakes

I have a 2nd gen 2011 xterra and the brakes have always been squishy. Is this normal for the xterra or can it be fixed. I can press them to the floor with not too much resistance. The brakes don’t do much for the first bit of travel and it has to be pressed about halfway for normal breaking. It has been like this since the previous owner got it in 2012. He had tried bleeding the breaks and fluid multiple times. He also tried different brake pads.

More than likely the brakes were not bled in the proper sequence:
Right Rear, Front Left, Rear Left, Front Right.

I do hate to make this recommendation. But.

Dealership. Consult. Brake fluid flush. It's either going to fix the problem or identify exactly the problem.
