Spare Tire Hanger.

Hey guys,....and gals, I own a 2000 Nissan Xterra, and I've noticed that the spare tire hanger seems to look like its shifted to the right. After reading on the internet, other people have noticed the same problem. Well I was wondering, if anyone has ever decided to try to "center" the hanger a little better? I just bought a new hanger because the originnal is rusted and cracking. To me, it looks like I have a little bit of room to move it over. If no one has tried this, I could always take pics and post the progress.

Picks are always welcomed.

Maybe this is what happened to mine so many years ago. It was soooo rusted the lowering tool and mechanism didn't line up anymore from that little opening in the back. That and the fact people were stealing spares from under SUV's was the reasons I eventually cut all that off.

Good luck!!!

The reason I am going to try to do this is, on my truck, if you peek through the hole in the back fender, the hanger is off to the right like an inch or two. And since I have a custom plate on my truck, I bought a lockable license plate holder, and to my wonder luck, it ever so slightly covers that hole to where I can't get the lowering rod in at the proper angle to lower the tire, without having to remove the plate and such. That's all. Just my own greed thing here. No real gain from it. I can afford to buy a Shrockworks kit for it, or I would. And I got tired,....hahaha...of my tire being in the back of the truck, all sliding around and such.
