Spare Tire and Wheel Question

Hi everyone I recently purchased a 2012 pro4x. The previous owner had aftermarket wheels and 285/75/16 bfg k02s on it. He had a 5th tire brand new with no wheel. I have a maxterra bumper with tore carrier coming in about a month and want to get a 5th wheel for it.

The wheels on the truck are what I beleive to be xd series heists 16x8. Unfortunately they have been discontinued and I cannot find a 5th one for sale. Eventually I plan to change them out for a new set of wheels but not for a while. In the mean time I found a wrecked frontier and was going to get the steel spare off of it to mount the tire to. From what I could find online the frontiers stock wheels are 16x7. Should this be the same for the spare? And will it work with 16x8s and the tire I have?

You'll be fine with that difference. You will just want to avoid using 4wd if you have to use the spare because it can affect the diameter of the tire. But it's not going to wear the way a 5 tire rotation spare would so the diameter will be different anyways.

Unless you are just set on getting aftermarket wheels, you might look into finding a set of factory matching wheels for it.

Ok thats what I thought. Yeah the other 4 are probably half gone already. The 5th would be a just in case spare. Also to have something to sit on the tire carrier. I thought about that but will eventually get a new set of after market wheels so rather save the money for that.

When I first got my tire carrier I did a $20 tire cover because of the ugly, rusty steel spare with a non-matching tire, but found a 5th (stock) via ebay.

Have you been told a delivery estimate for your rear bumper? Or just a guesstimate?

Yeah my x came with an extra tire but no wheel. When I ordered it he said it was under two months lead time. That was about 3 weeks or so ago. Once I get the bumper I probably will.
