So who buys new parts when not needed at moment? I received a email from Rock Auto for clearance on 2003 Xterra parts for my particular rig. I was able to buy both timing chains, tensioner, seals, gasket set and guide for $42. So I bought them and will put them in my storage tub for parts for my rig. I only have 162k miles at moment, but I figured for that price WTH. If I need them in future I have, if not. So be it. .

I do too. Sort of. Part of that is helping out with 2 VQ40 pathys. I buy things like oil/air filters, oil, light bulbs in bulk. I think it was $3/ea on the oem oil filters by the case last time. Need a single turn or brake light while out somewhere? $5/ea easy, if you can find the right one. I stock a case of each type and assembled a kit to keep in the glovebox of each vehicle for under $20. Picked up half price oem engine mounts a while back since 2 out of 3 needed them at the time anyway. Stuff like brake pads that are the same, cheap, and don't get enough for a bulk discount I just keep 1 set on hand mostly so they don't have to worry about buying the wrong ones. Sparkplugs? No. Only buy those once every 10 years. ;)
