I tried to start spooling the line onto the drum today and the second I started to pull any kind of weight..the clutch jumped out of gear. We kept trying but nothing would keep it from jumping out of gear.. Anybody heard of this or could possibly know what's wrong or a solution??

there is a small pin that keeps the lever for the clutch from going to far, you might have broken it so now the lever goes to far and is not properly engaging the clutch. It is a sheer pin and it easy to do. Mine now has a cut off nail that fits just right.

Do you have all the line spooled out? Are you spooling it backwards?

Yeah I'm actually putting the line on for the first time and before I could even get 2 wraps around the drum it disengaged. And on the remote I was running it in..

That's possible.. Can you explain how you have the nail in there? Maybe some pictures if you don't care..

You have to take the winch back out to fix it(if it is the problem). I dont have any pics of it all opened. But it the side of the where the handle is and it is just a bunch of allen bolts holding it on.

Oh gobble that sucks haha. I may have to PM you and pick your brain soon... I'm gonna call Smittybilt tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Just contacted Smittybilt and they are sending me this... Probably gonna be a pain to swap this out but if it fixes it, I'm ok with that! Dude was super nice I talked to.

It's snowing here now or I would be out there trying to work on it some more and do what Granite suggested.. hopefully we'll get it straightened out. Thanks for the help and advice!
