Post a picture of your rifles, shot guns or hand guns. Just don't roll up your sleeve and flex.

I would, but I lost all of my weapons while cleaning them on a boat while fishing on a very deep lake, by a dam. Horrible, horrible accident. I happened to survive but lost everything. :zomg:

No need to look in my house at all. None. What-so-ever. I think my neighbor has a .22 though. :D

WOW cyclemut...I have a mental image of what might have happened, That sounds like a "horrible, horrible accident".

You do not have to talk about it if you don't want too, we will understand.

Drband, That stock is what made me want it the most, but after checking it out the scope was just a bonus cause it is really nice too.

The day after christmas I went skeet shooting with one. I really liked the gun and I want a pump action not a semi-auto. The 870 is like a all american classic, police force and I think military used it in nam. I would use it for protection and skeet shooting/duck hunting with bird shot. Can you use it for deer/turkey with slugs in it? Also I'm having trouble deciding between Express, Express Super Magnum, or maybe the tactical. I'm not sure what the main differences are and things. Any info will help. This will be my first gun at 18.

The tactical is not legal for hunting purposes. It has the extended tube for extra rounds. It also only has an 18" barrel, which is not conducive to a successful hunting shot. Even in the "non tactical" editions, there is a plug in the tube that prevents you from loading more than 3 rounds at a time. That's all you can legally have to hunt with. You can remove the tube for home protection, but I leave it in there. I keep my .40 in the bedside table and my shotgun is usually behind the door. The .40 gets me to the shotgun and, if I need 5 rounds in my shotgun after having gone through .40 rounds, I've got a bigger problem on my hands than not having the extra 2 shells..

I have a youth model 20ga Express Super Magnum that I've had since I was 13, and it's got a 21" barrel on it I think. It's got a wooden stock, but will eventually be changed over to synthetic when I can get around to it.

I also have a full-size 12ga Express Super Magnum that I use for duck hunting. It has a synthetic stock and is in Realtree camo pattern.

The local PD carries Remingtons and ARs. Mossberg used to be a big favorite until the 870 came around.

I would not recommend shooting a turkey with a slug, nor would I recommend a lead shot, since you'll be eating the meat. All the legal "hunting" ammo is steel, anyway. Target/Skeet load is normally lead. There IS a difference.

For waterfowl hunting, I use #2 shot for ducks and then BB or BBB for geese.

You also have your Super Magnum series, which will shoot a shell 3 1/2" in length. Let me tell you, it makes a difference. Not so much in self-defense, but in hunting where you're making 30yd shots.

I would recommend this to you, if you plan on duck hunting with it..

Synthetic is the way to go when it comes to stocks. Virtually indestructible and easy to maintain. My 20ga has a wooden stock, and if I don't keep it clean or take care of it, I'll lose the stock. I plan on replacing it anyway, but that's not the point here.

I am leaning towards the super magnum. I really like the look of the wood stock and all compared to the plain black synthetic. I think in the long run the synthetic will be better so I'm not so paranoid about the wood when I take it out in the woods.

Thanks for all that info!

True True. At the moment I rarely go hunting, so most likely this will be just for protection and for just going out and shooting for the fun.

Home defense is an entirely different story. The first shot is a "warning, I'll shoot you but I really don't want to have to rebuild the walls and clean the blood off the floor/ceiling/walls, but I'll do it if you don't leave." The second and third shells are 00-Buck. I shoot nothing but Remington shells in mine. Winchester ammo likes to jam because it expands too fast, even with my fast ejection skills.

This is my youngest sons gun, it was a gift from his Grandparents on my wifes side. He got his first deer with it in 2010, it was a nice spike.

243 youth rifle, single shot and it has just as much kick as mine if not more with that short barrel.

Diadaga, I can't speak for the compact, but I shot a full size XD .40 when they first came out and it is hands down the best handgun I've ever shot. I would get an XD over a Glock any day, and I like the Glocks too.

Here's my meager collection (top to bottom is my first ever rifle, a Marlin 16Y single shot .22, a Remington 552 Speedmaster, a Ruger 10/22 (everyone should have a 10/22 at some point in their life!) and my S&W M&P 15):

The Smith & Wesson M&P 15 looks like this now:

And this is my newest. I know the .380 auto doesn't have a ton of power, but it's easy to carry, easy to handle and become comfortable with, and best of all, this particular one is a tack driver up to 20 yards. It's an almost perfect CCW.

Well that's good to hear been looking at them but so far that's about it, also considering a glock as well, probably going to end up with a 12g or 20g this year unless I find a monster deal

My XD.45 kicks less that some of my friends 9mm.

I love mine and it will never leave my side. :)

I'm gonna be the same way, I'm actually in the process of finding out if MSU will be ok with me doing concealed carry on campus, with a permit of course. Got too many kids going off the deep end nowadays.

Every campus I've ever been to in TN has been Zero Tolerance, meaning you can't even get caught with it in your vehicle, even with CCP. That goes for college as well has high schools and elementary schools. This also means the parking lot, or the transient visit while cruising for chicks.

Believe me, I'm a FIRM believer in the 2nd Amendment, but it isn't worth me losing my CCP, or my X, or my other state licenses to get caught with a firearm on campus...and I dang sure don't want to spend the night in jail.

I knew TN was like that but I'm looking at going to school in Missouri so I'm hoping they would be a little more lenient. Your right though if they say no then its a no its not worth the hassle that it would cause.
