Just did the recovery point install last night. Took me about 5 hours between cutting the bumper and repainting it (was originally silver, I made it black). Nonetheless it was fun and a learning experience, gotta thank you for sparking that interest in installing them. Now I have to find 3/4 inch black shackles.

Tractor Supply tends to have them.

I tried there too.....I just ended up plasti-dipping the silver ones. Tractor Supply and Rural King sells the shackles with the wrong fitment....none of their pins are an inch thick.

Despite getting minimal (legitimate) feedback on Facebook, I went on ahead and mounted the second FAK on the hood. This will only be mounted here during off-road driving. The logical reasoning behind it is lengthy so hit me up if you're curious as to why I wanted the second FAK here.

IMAG1405_1_zpswjwfgjky.jpg

Here's the mount for the second FAK. I spaced it up a bit off the hood to allow for heat to ventilate away from the FAK. This mount stays in place during daily driving.

ZOE_0002_zpsxli4qswt.jpg

During daily driving the mount is located affixed to the C-pillar.

Overland/off-road stuff.

IMAG1402_zpsl36dhfmq.jpg

Mounted MOLLE panels to the passenger D-pillar to free up some space on the MOLLE seat covers.

IMAG1401_zpszkoxaoti.jpg

And on the lift-gate.

Rear Shaneen LEDs

Drivers side Rigid. (still waiting on the second to arrive in the mail, which will go on the passenger side)

IMAG1388_zpsdnkbdmvz.jpg

This was more difficult than I can describe, but the switches work lol

IMAG1387_zpsnwc0ale9.jpg

Made some additional mounting points in locations ideal for how I configure my load plan.

I did the same for my overhead lights. But I crammed one full size Carling switch up there and ran all the wires down the A-pillar.

I ran mine down the A-pillar too. The wires going to the lights are tucked up under my patchwork carpet on the ceiling lol. I absolutely hate wires hanging all over the place so my compulsive desire to hide them made this job a lengthy one.

Welp, I got the second Rigid installed.

IMAG1427_zpsvt77yabu.jpg

But I pretty much ruined the inner bracket for my dome light housing where I mounted my light switches. So for now, the dome housing is good, but I dont have working dome lights.

Damn dude I wish I could get mine to be that clean!!! Every time I dust it off and spray it down, in a couple days it's dusty as hell again! I'd pay WHATEVER it takes for you to clean my engine area lol fricken too much mud and dirt caked into it :(

After some legitimate trial and error, I've realized that the engine bay (and underbody) are a lost cause regarding keeping it clean. If you plan to keep your truck in city environment only, then I can help you completely. But if you plan to, or currently do, off-road shenanigans, then I can only offer you limited support.

Keeping the exterior clean, however, is something that I can thoroughly support, regardless of city driving and/or off-roading shenanigans.

Let me know how you use your truck most and I'll offer my best support. I still owe a few people a detailing how-to, something I plan to generate soon.

Thanks Shiz! Well, I don't live in a city. I live in a small town and drive to work on a highway that tends to get some windy causing sand to sometimes kick up a lot. But not even that. It just never tends to keep dust out. It's always on there. Whether it's on the steering wheel base, or on the dash or just on the components i.e. cd player, area where the 4wd stick is and just anywhere really. It's tough as hell to keep it somewhat clean from dust and looking nice. I think it might be the environment of where I live but I do wish there was something I can do to stop seeing dust and dirt everywhere I look :(

I do off road every once and a while but not enough to have me go, ehh, it's not worth cleaning it because I'm going soon anyways.

I feel your pain. Not that i clean my truck a lot but i live down a gravel and mud road and i could clean it today and by the end of the week the inside is covered in dust. and gobble forbid it rains because all my vehicles will be covered in mud. I used to clean my cars every week or so in the summer, now they only get cleaned to keep bird poop from ruining the paint.

For what its worth, I always keep a couple extra microfiber towels handy to make daily wipedowns of my interior (dash and center console area especially). Keeping these things clean, as with any vehicle, requires constant little routine instances of effort. I'm not nearly as hardcore keeping my XTerra clean as I used to be when I had my 98 Avenger. But I still try to keep it clean enough. Its difficult to do with 11 year old gloss black exterior factory paint lol.

One of these days I'm going to generate a How-To for Detailing and post it here.

Just in case:

Do you drive with windows, etc open, or, closed?

Have you installed/replaced the in cabin air filters?

Courtesy of the brilliant work by Hep Designs....window panels for MOLLE :D

I'm pretty much finished with all plans with my interior for proper rigging and securing of cargo for camping/overlanding.

Yep.....10 years active duty Army......you wont see any "I served and here is my ERB on my back window" decals....but proper use of 550 cord and MOLLE is well within reasonable use :D

That was the first thing that gave it away. Most people say paracord. I've personally only heard 550 while in the army. I'm not a big fan of the whole OEF/OIF/airborne wings/rank/CAB/CIB/all that jazz stickers you'd normally see Everywhere on post but I do have a FA sticker laying around I'm planning on throwing on. It's just the cross cannons so most people don't even know what it is.

Love the featured Overland part.

That video of Austin is hilarious for the reason that he rolled in so nonchalant but as soon as he stopped, crap hit the fan.

Great loadout and documentation of the trip. We need another one soon!

Eager to see future mod plans - Crank those T-bars!
