Man, this is a sweet truck. Well done!

Thank you sir.

My girlfriend also served in the military and she raised the idea of having a quick-draw cord for my firestick (CB antenna). We used to have quick-draw cords attached to our antenna in our Humvees so we could quickly pull down our antenna for whatever reason. I've rigged my truck to be able to do the same thing (as I've already hit a few low clearance things already with my firestick lol).

So affix 550/paracord to the near tip of your firestick. I also used a conduit mount to hold my antenna down indefinitely.

And I used another conduit line to anchor the quick-draw cord. Its mounted to the upper left of my head right by the top of the B-pillar. This was I can quickly pull my firestick down while I'm inside the truck.

I'm still fascinated by those rear recovery points that I ordered a set for myself. How was the install? Was it a simple cut of the bumper and then bolt them on?

I didnt have the proper tool to cut through my bumper as easy as it could have been. Instead I drilled....that was the only difficult part for me. But once I evened out the drill slots and mated the anchors with the frame, it was super easy. I love it.

Thanks gents. Hopefully I get my lights in the mail today. Should be my "last mod" for a while.

TJTJ, what is ECXC?

The East Coast Xterra Challenge.

Its an annual event JUST for Xterras held at the Rausch Creek Off Road Park in Tremont, PA/Pine Grove PA. (July 16th - July 18th, 2015) Officially, its Thursday - Saturday. Many of us also wheel on Sunday too though.

http://rc4x4.org/

http://ecxc.nexterra.org/

The park is a great place to wheel, as it has stuff that's used for professional off road events, corporate testing of off road rigs, as well as color coded trails that allow you to know if the trail is stock friendly, or requires more experience and or mods, etc...analogous to ski trail codes, etc.

Generally, about a hundred or so people show up, this year is the 15th Anniversary. As its ALL Xterra peeps, its very cool. Its when a lot of us who normally only talk online etc, actually get to hang out with each other for a few days.

People can camp or stay in cabins or hotels, etc. I stay at the Pine Grove Comfort Inn because they give a discount if off roading, and are super off roader friendly, free breakfast, etc.

:D

Did u remove the bumper to cut or just did it right on the truck? I read somewhere else from someone who installed a similar product that u have to lift the rear and remove the tire and wheel well to.be able to install it. Was that necessary for you?

**** yeah I'd love to go to that. I dont know what my schedule will be like then but I'll put this at the top of my list. Thanks for mentioning it man. Im learning thats the best way to find out things with XTerras is word of mouth lol.

I removed my bumper to measure where the holes needed to be to line up with the frame. I already relocated my spare to my roof rack so I couldnt tell you about if the spare would be in the way or not. Hit me up if you have any more questions man!

Raingler grab handles for A-pillar. I think they are pretty damn cool and worth the buy. Better to grab and easier on the hands.

Also installed these super dim, 7" "off-road" lights from http://www.4x4parts.com. Not impressed whatsoever as I could get brighter lights from Autozone. But its on me for being a cheapass.

And to make up for the **** lights....I also got the Raingler shelf net. I havent fully configured it yet for ideal placement, but here's how it looks in the truck today.

Also touched up my pouches with silver paint marker instead of the white "crafting" paint marker. Updated the contents as well.

And when you are excited to find something that has become a surprise gift to yourself because you forgot all about it? Yes.

EXACTLY!

I'll be rummaging around for the winch remote, and find something else I'd forgotten I had/assumed I'd lost....and its like Xmas!

Sometimes, an item will be missing long enough that I'll be out somewhere, and see one, and get it to replace the missing one.

I have 3 hi-lift jacks now that way.

Dude how do you misplace a hi-lift lol

I also have multiple things that I've replaced. My highest count goes to Meguiars Quick Wax (five bottles). Oh and half a dozen 10mm socket heads lol.

Practice?

:kewl:

Well, lets see, the first one was on my jeep, and, I had it for decades, and then I traded the jeep for the '01 X back in 2000.

Afterwards, I could not find the standard anywhere, and, as I swapped stuff in the middle of the night at the Nissan Dealership, I figured I must have left it in the lot....

...so I bought a new one.

3 years later, I found the missing standard in the garage where I had leaned it that night and completely forgot about...next to some other stuff I'd taken from the jeep and was too beat to bother to put away better. :dead:

So, I had two then...but didn't know it until 3 years later....

I loaned one (The second one), off road, to a buddy, and later he told me he lost it...so, later, I bought another one (#3).

A few months later, unpacking the rig, I found the one he said he lost. He had buried it under some other stuff in my rig, and pretended he had lost it...

So I have 3.

:tunes:

I have one on the back of the 2004, and one in the garage, and I forget where the other one is...so, its another easter egg to look forward to one day.

I had to get kitty litter even though I didn't even have a cat.

My wife mentioned a bulb in the kitchen was out...so, I went to change it.

I went to the drawer with the bulbs, and noticed the handle of the drawer was loose, so, I went to the garage to get a screwdriver to tighten it.

As I'm getting the screwdriver, I noticed that I had stacked oil and a filter to change the oil, but forgot to, so, I figured I might was well change the oil while I was down there.

I put down the screw driver, and went to do the oil change.

I didn't realize the old filter gasket had stuck to the mount, and installed the new filter over it (2 gaskets now), and, when I started it up, it sprayed oil all over the place.

I started to clean it up, stepped on the screw driver and flipped to the ground in a puddle of oil.

I cleaned up a bit, and realized I needed some kitty litter to absorb the oil, so went back up to change to go get the kitty litter.

My wife asked me WTF I was going all covered in oil, and I said "I'm changing that damn light bulb, what does it look like!".

I've done that before. I'll never forget that sound.
