SCCX took a group of members out to Ocotillo Wells, near the Truckhaven Hills area. We met in Borrego Springs and trekked out to the Calcite Mine Trail to warm up. From there the group headed out in seach of the infamous Fire Hydrant Hill.

The group line up at Christmas Circle...

Terry and Daphne discuss the benefits of the Trasharoo...

After a quick drive out to the trailhead at Calcite mine, we headed out. Not before hearing Randy, KG6YPO on the ham radio. We waited at the bottom of the wash while Jordan headed up back to S22. No luck...until we got to the end of the trail where Randy met us.

The group photo...

Great scenery...wind and water erosion...

It's all about the people...well, and Harley

Cool shot through a wind cave

From the Calcite Mine Trail, and after Randy caught up with the group, we headed over to the Truckhaven Hills area of Ocotillo Wells.

Ray met a few friends at the restrooms, and we headed onto the Tectonic Gorge Trail where we found a shady spot to have lunch.

It was definitely warm, and the lunch conversations covered a lot of topics. Sorry, no pie, just nacho Doritos.

After lunch, the group headed up a tight, twisty serpentine trail in search of the fire hydrant hill

Terry got a free "dust shine" on his shoes, compliments of Chris and his open diff

So Terry showed how to do it fully locked

Jordan's bumper before

Lisa was thankful that Batman was along for the ride

Finally, upon arrival at the fire hydrant hill, Randy mugged for the camera. We watched a Jeep group climb a very serious hill climb...Broken Spade Trail.

Beautiful desert scenery

The group dreams of fender carnage

Another great group shot...what a fun day

Cool shot between fenders

Jordan's truck after :'(

Paul's Frontier

Harley found a bacon flavored bumper :D :D :D

Before we said our good byes, Paul and Randy discussed the attributes of floppy hats vs. sunscreen

While Terry pointed out the fact that the speed limit around campsites is 15mph...Lisa looks skeptical, she thought it was 55mph

Another great Xcursion, thanks to all w
