Make plans now! Mark your calendars for November 20 - the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving.
Last year we had 10 Xterras come out and run Flagpole. I think this year we can definitely beat that number. If we do, I think either way we'll probably split into at least two groups a few minutes apart just for the purpose of getting past people coming the opposite way.

Option A:
The route would be in two phases:
1. Dunklehollow Rd from Skidmore/Switzer Lake to Flagpole Knob - this is arguably the easiest offroad route in Virginia, but offers nice scenery of the lake, a few water crossings, and of course a great view from the top. Chosen specifically because a stock Xterra can do it, and should enable us to get max participation.
2. Flagpole Knob back down Union Springs Rd - this is probably the most challenging (at least so far) I'm willing to do in Virginia (there are tougher, but I'm not that brave). If we do this second we still get the "fun stuff" for some folks, and for anyone that doesn't want to do it, they can easily skip the second phase and exit at the Knob.

Option B:
We can meet up in two groups: one going up Dunklehollow and one going up Union Springs, and meet at the top. That way anyone that wants the more challenging or easier routes can do them, and if pressed for time still leave from the Knob. Departure can be any route you choose. Personally, I'll go down the opposite of whichever one I come up.

Here is a map with all the air up/down spots, the two routes we're taking up to Flagpole Knob, and also the easy exit out to paved roads to take you back toward Harrisonburg (back to cell coverage).

Hope to see you there! Please share this link/page far and wide.

Exact times will depend on whether we’re at two different spots or not. Probably late morning or early afternoon.
i'm trying to create an event page on facebook but it would be nice to have a start time. there should be a start time to meetup at a sheetz or something and people can then choose what group they want to head out with.

Let’s say 1pm because some people are traveling from farther. Can we add the location later? @TerryD knows of a preferred Sheetz that doesn’t require us to go through downtown. I can’t find it now
