Recommended by @C3NK0 - we’re going to try out Long Run Rd. Exact timing and route TBD, but thinking early afternoon.

Apparently there are lots of side trails and different things to check out so we’ll have some options.

Please RSVP if you’re interested - I’m open to something before or after as well.

Updates:
Meeting at 1pm at the trailhead: https://goo.gl/maps/uMuQY1Xqh6w3jqgMA

Man, this place was gorgeous. Not much of a challenge at all (Long Run Rd only) but what a view.

I was late thanks to a Google Maps flub (pro tip: navigate to the church instead of the coords), and we did a quick greeting then hit the road. We pulled over after a little bit to air down just for comfort and less bouncing. I don’t think 4wd was at all necessary due to dry conditions.

We originally turned to go down Second Mountain, but then found out it was closed to motor vehicles. Dictum Ridge was open but a couple folks had concerns about scratching, so we stayed on Long Run Rd.

I talked to somebody coming down and he said he just vacated a great camp site at Bald Knob and told us where to turn to find it. We pulled up and the views were incredible. It was cloudy, cooler, lower humidity, and there was a nice breeze.

We grilled some burgers and had some other stuff to eat, then hung around and did the standard comparing and contrasting of parts and mods. We stayed there a while and then just headed straight back down to the start.

So I owe an apology to the group. Second Mountain is not closed -- it is open. The road we turned down based on verbal directions (first left) was another road that is actually closed. I was using Gaia to record and zoomed out for a general idea of where we were, but if I had zoomed in I would've seen we were trying the wrong path.
