RPM ACT - what is it?

The RPM ACT is a movement against the EPA and the recent regulatory actions that will prevent modification of personal vehicles for the intent of racing or modifying for off-road use.

What direction, impact?

Multiple congressmen are working to help the American Automotive Aftermarket Industry. The action of the EPA will have a ripple down affect that would impact numerous industries and jobs in America.

How to do your part?

Contact your Senator and Congressional Representative and have them support the bill introduced this year - "RPM Act of 2017"

Take a few minutes to sign this. It will help us create a voice. Take note below by scrolling down the list of which representatives are "CO-Sponsors" of this bill realizing their willing to take jobs away as well as a complete industry. This is relative to the old "Closed Hood Law" from the late 90's and early 2000's.

All Information (Except Text) for S.2602 - RPM Act of 2019

We as we'll as hundreds of other companies are backing this. THIS would essentially wipe out not only the 100's of aftermarket companies you can think of, but thousands more companies, suppliers, parts/upfittment shops, and investment companies essentially costing... millions of jobs in every facet of the Automotive Industry and others.

This is NOT a joke, even if this doesn't pass, its a test to see what will be needed to change in the legalese to see what will pass and to revise the language to encourage its passing in increments. Much just like all of the firearm infringements we've seen in the last decade if you're a firearms fan at all. These people are treating this the same as if there is no ammo for your firearms, eventually you will have a useless or no use for the firearm. Replace Ammo for 'aftermarket parts' and 'Vehicle' for firearm. This is driven from the California model of not wanting you to drive cars/trucks. They would have you live in stuffed expensive "Stack & packs", apartments above small strip mall like stores, that are expensive pushing people into the cities to prevent sprawl to the rural areas where you can't be controlled, excise taxed/fined, or watch your every movement.

California, Oregon, and New York are beta-testing test beds for nationwide legislation. If you're pretty aware of that, you are likely already aware this is a real serious matter. And if not just yet, look at the media outlets that keep repeating it enough that the masses will start to believe and agree with it, because we know how many critical thinkers are among us all.

The only thing that is systemic is the dismantling of everything you've come to know; societal, economic, lawful, We are far closer to a one world government than people will believe. If you're in the automotive industry in respect to aftermarket, a supplier, direct manufacturing, or a garage tinkerer.. you should be behind this before they stop asking you, and just start telling you.

This nation has been undergoing a HUGE attack on itself from external distractions, and mostly internal disruptions and attacks. There are prominent figures in both our own past history and in recent history of prominent figures both in and out of our own society who have stated that the fall of this country would start from within.

You're living it Gentlemen and ladies... We all need each other more than ever!

Agree or disagree, this here is fine opportunity to start flame throwing. It already happened on the other site.

Flame throwing because....? It's not even controversial, well outside of giving an un-regulated alphabet agency an inch and they take a mile precept.

How bad is it when adults can't have a dialog on a topic, especially one where businesses and assets are being siezed, jobs lost, and the foot-in-the-door legislation starts knocking on your door about monies spent on this, modifications on that, etc.. Turning a blind eye to a conversation because you, [a generalization, not you specifically], think it can't or won't affect you, [another generalization], is the true absurdity. Already lost a major distributor that supplied us 20+ out of the 90 or so product lines offered disappear from this, as well another smaller shop just as we were trickling in some fullsize domestic/foreign diesel parts options. Not now...

I'd get it if it's posted, and the comments went dormant because lack of real interest, the topic wasn't an effort to soap-box, merely for people to be aware, and look into it based upon the summarized information. Other groups have been far more receptive, I get it. The Yee-Yee crowd started a mess and triggered it but again.. if the conversation leads no where.. it is what it is. I look at the stateside job creation aspects, the self employment opportunities, and the fact GOV is suppose to work for us, not the other way around. Not here to argue with anyone. Just enjoy the community at large, sell parts, and better outdoor experience opportunities.

I guess I am more disappointed that the one thing that joins everyone into a vehicular culture also divides many too.

NOTE: And I can't even follow up on the other thread on NewX.. its there but I've personally been locked out of that particular thread. Disturbing really..

I mean, if you re-read your first post it’s highly political and gets into tinfoil hat conspiracy territory talking about guns and “one world government” and whatnot. Also claiming the downfall of the economy and society and millions of jobs lost and lives devastated. Throw in the standard ALL CAPS and we MUST act and blah blah blah. You already lost me at that point.

You could have said something along the lines of: “There have been some bad actors irresponsibly modding vehicles for the expressed purpose of polluting. In response to this, the EPA moved to introduce regulations to prevent this reckless behavior, but did so in a way that I/we feel overstepped and inhibits responsible usage of vehicles. The RPM Act seeks to protect the lawful, responsible modification of vehicles for reasonable recreational purposes.”

And then you could have stated your concern about slippery slope or whatever you think, and asked people if they agree to please sign the petition.

But with a post ostensibly to provide information on an proposed law, you went full extremist, called anyone who doesn’t share your views or is apathetic “absurd,” while at the same time bemoaning the inability to have an “adult dialog” about it. Yikes man.

I personally don’t know anything about it other than this post, but a quick google search shows the RPM Act as stemming from the idiots who think “rolling coal” is somehow “owning the libs” and the RPM Act is to protect their “right” to pollute. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t support it, but I would support something that protects off-roading and racing, and I’d support the EPA regulating against mods designed solely to pollute.

Either way, your stance and the way you present it are likely why you were shut down on other sites, and why lots of sites like this ban political discussion.

As a general rule we don't allow political stuff on the board. Too many people have too many opinions. And those opinions can get fired up.

This one is wierd to me though. I understand that it's political. But. It deals with the very core of the thing that brings us together.
If you’re still in the decision-making phase, I’ll offer a couple things. One is that in reading about a dozen articles and blogs, this has absolutely nothing to do with the offroad community. The only way it has anything to do with off-roading or racing is the diesel modifiers trying to use the two communities as a cover while they try to argue the slippery slope fallacy and call blowing stacks of pollution in the air a “performance competition.”

The other thing is, as far as optics go, the two worst times to consider changing or making an exception to a long-established black-and-white rule (no politics) are 1. when the offending post is made by a paying site sponsor, and 2. right after a supporting member funds drive.

Agreed. I just haven't had time to look into it. We're staying far away from this.
