So. You have a drop bracket in the front and SOA in the back? How's the axle wrap?

And can we talk about your shock situation? I'm swapping in a Titan 226. Which means I have to move everything. And I want to raise the shock mounts so that they don't hang below the axle tube. But I haven't found a good solution for the upper shock mounts.

The front suspension is a Fabtech 6" lift for a Fronty.

The rear...........well..........it started as PRG lift brackets and Deaver AAL's, but she still sat nose high when empty, never mind loaded to go out of town.

I knew the Fronty's have SOA from the factory. I wanted to reduce my dependency on lift brackets. I wanted bearing end shocks to fully take advantage of how much she'll twist up without side loading a bushing style shock. And I needed to tilt up the pinion by a total of 6 degrees from stock, I was running 4 degree jeep shims at the time.

I cut all the mounts off the axle. I ordered generic mounts and perch's from Poly Performance (local), where I had bought 16" the Fox Reservoirs, which leads me to your conundrum. I welded in a 2" x .250 chrome moly DOM tube from rail to rail, right through the spare tire location. That is where the upper shock mounts are. The factory passenger upper mount was cut off.........I believe I cut off the driver side one too in order to facilitate the new cross member.

Axle wrap?.........I've been observed through the rocks in low range and locked, no said anything looked bad. Then again, I don't drive it like a sports car either (removed the sway bars early on). Negligible perhaps. If it ever becomes an issue, I am eventually installing aftermarket leafs anyway.

Are you still running 285's with these gears? What is your opinion on this configuration?

Yes still running 285's. With my Rig weighing in a 5800 lbs., I can't imaging running anything taller gear wise. I have argued over and over that 4.10's and 33's or 4.56's and 35's are the correct combos...

Between Maxterra, myself and all the trails we've run together, and all GONE Moab's we've been part of, I'm even more convinced that it is quite literally the perfect combination for these rigs.

I am currently on 285's, was contemplating 35's, but mileage is not the priority with this rig. I need to go put this thing on a Cat Scale sometime.

It'll do 35's with 4.10's, but man I'll tell ya, engine braking down the hills on Hell's Revenge that make most people shiat themselves is pretty awesome.

Build list update. Finished 4.10 gear change up front. Rebuilt PRG UCA's. Broke down, inspected, and repacked CV shafts with new EMPI boots. New LCA's. Install compression stops for the front suspension. New Timken bearing assemblies. Finally got my Rago Fab mounts and BD Lights on.

I finally dun did it. I got the Transgo Shift Improver kit this summer...........with the intent of installing it this summer.........but life. Anyhow, pretty straight forward. Completely worth it. Firmness is contingent on power setting. If you're cruising about light footed it feels stock. If you put the spurs to it or are carrying high torque loading the shifts firm up very nicely.
