Remote Starter

I’ve been looking for a self install remote starter kit and eyeing 12volt solutions since its plug and play. Price was quite steep at 349 or so.

I came across another brand called start-x on amazon which looked very similar to 12voltsolutions device and only selling at 219 however only advertised for frontiers. Looked at reviews and saw couple of people installed on xterra and it worked.

so i figured why not give it a shot, i can always return since its on amazon.

took me 30 minutes to install due to plugs being a B* to undo. Works flawless, despite some
People complaint about issues with pro4x locker, everything works no issues on my 2012, maybe later frontiers have slightly different wiring.

anyways, if you are looking for a remote starter with no need to splicing wires, this is the way.

Unless there is another solution cheaper, feel free to comment.

Mine came with a remote start that the previous owner had installed, but the unit under the dash doesn't have a model number on it so I've no idea how to actually use the thing. Searching DEI's website using the remote model number was also a waste of time. Does this one also connect under the dash on the driver's side?

yes it does connect on the driver side, you replace three connections plus connect the trailer connector which was hanging without connected to anything on mine.

when you hit the lock button three times car starts, runs for 15 minutes. you can hit the brake pedal to kill or lock button three times to kill the engine. If you remote started, you put the key in and turn to on position you can drive away.

here is the link to the product.

are you able to return it? If not I’m thinking on trying it even though I have the man6. Or did you not buy it yet and just went off the info/reports about it?
I just went off the paperwork saying it won't work for 05-07. My X was built later 2006.

For those who haven't herd this story :::

I was talking with KYLE Pro4X on the phone to see if he wanted the trailer hitch off the back of the new-to-me 2011 P4x . He asked me to look at something underneath so I crawled under and was looking around when all of a sudden the X started . I rolled out from under there ready to chew out my buddie's girlfriend and there was no one in the X [ I did have her vehicle blocked in and thought she was moving it ] Then Kyle asked me if I had a remote start . Come to find out I did . I didn't know it when I bought the vehicle nor did the sale's man mention it .

I read that too. And that it doesn’t work for a man6 but a reviewer claims they did it. There seems to be mixed info on the will/won’t work year range. Maybe cuz of the immobilizer function?

Speaking of that, I need to install the hood switch it came with. So there are no mishaps while working on the car. İ might install it in the car so it can disable it whether hood is open or not.

You can make any remote start work with a manual transmission by simply bypassing the clutch switch, but you absolutely shouldn't. :p

I know. It should be totally disabled until looped through a neutral pisition switch. And the hood safety switch for the extra precaution. And maybe an inclinometer sensor for level start. And ooh the seat warmer switch, and the defroster activator. Aw hell with it, I’ll just go out there and fire everything up myself. Then I know it works

I've seen some that are supposed to be failsafe with a manual transmission, but the process is even more involved than that.
