Relocate trailer light plug

I am sure someone has done it.

As you know the trailer light attachment hangs below the bumper. I have torn mine off on my pickup so want to reloace them on both my xterra and frontier. Can you adapt the existing one to fit in the bumper after drilling a hole or do I need to rewire an aftermarket one in? Thanks

How I did mine. Removed bracket and just zip tied the plug out of the way. It’s held up for years like this. Granted I have only towed a trailer once in that time.

Relocating to the bumper is definitely something that others have done.
