I just bought a 2015 Xterra Pro4x. I also own a 2019 Jeep Wrangler and a 2016 Porsche Cayenne. I would like to purchase a decent code reader that may work with all 3- vehicles. My budget is $250. I am a newbie and would appreciate your suggestions. Thank you.

This is the device. I think I bought it off Amazon, though. You can get some of the data through the ELMs, but it involved finding an app that read all of that info, and making sure the ELM you had used a certain set of firmware versions, this device was more money but less hassle. You can buy their cheaper readers and just do an in-app purchase for your specific vehicle, but the MX+ comes with all the vehicles for free.

I've used this one for years. I really really like it.
I had considered this when I bought my OBDLink. One benefit is that they apparently have really good documentation in addition to the error codes. A downside to it was (last I heard), they didnt have much real-time data across quite a number of the supported vehicles. As of a year ago, a friend who has the Bluedriver couldn't monitor his transmission temperature, which was the reason he bought a device to begin with. They are working on adding those features, I am not sure the status of it though, as I havent been looking.
