Reasons to get an armored front bumper

As a few of you know, I am only 17 so my dad owns my X until I graduate and get my degree. Recently i managed to smash my front bumper (lower section) by running into a bit of a hill (rock) at an Off Road park here in Texas. Well after checking it out, turns out I broke some clips holding the bumper in place. There is no visible damage or scratches, but it does wobble if you try to shake it. I have all of the tools and parts to fix it, and i will this weekend. However, now i have a better angle at persuading my dad to let me buy (with my own money of course) an ARB, Hefty, or Shrock. :) hehehe probably shouldn't be happy about this but seeing as I have wanted a new bumper for a while now, I might use this as an excuse to buy one. Anyone have advice / experience with either of these bumpers? I'm leaning towards ARB or Hefty due to price primarily.

Do you mean the whole bumper wobbles or just that little grey piece? If just that little piece then junk it. If the whole thing then that's a safety issue and we can't have that! I can't speak on different bumpers as I'm still rolling stock'ish. I would throw a shrock on right now (1244 am) if I could afford it and the wait weren't months long. Can't go wrong with any of them in my opinion. Just depends on exactly what you plan on doing with your rig.

Lots of folks here have experience with all three of those bumpers. I know the Shrock and Hefty bumpers are heavier and stronger than the ARB. I personally like the look of the ARB, but if it were me I'd go Shrock just because I can make a weekend out of driving to Houston to pick it up or have it mounted. Shrock is the most expensive option and they do have pretty long lead times though.

After seeing a SAS'd 1st gen have approach angle issues out at GONE the other day on a step up obstacle that a 3" lifted IFS took down I would say there are better options than ARB if that is on your priority list. It's a pretty bumper but I'm not wild about the functionality.

hahaha yeah the whole part with the fog lights wobbles slightly but am fixing it now. Thanks for introducing me to those other brands, gonna go check em out. The fix I am doing will be a permanent fix, but I still want to get rid of that POS stock bumper so within the next year i want something heavy duty

Only thing that broke was the mounting brackets for my LED...

...and I do believe it was me getting up the ledge the sas'd first gen was scraping rock off of with his his Hefty. That thing was flexing like crazy, too (the bumper).
