Rack and pinion help

Hello, so, I've put this off but time to fix now. Alignment is supposedly good, nothing loose or wobbly...so I'm guessing rack and pinion. Steering is a bit harder to turn to the left than the right and it feels like it wants to hold left a bit...kinda weird. Can anyone recomend For or against any replacement parts place? Thanks!

Well that's difficult. As you don't have a rack and pinion.

You have a steering box, pitman arm, center link, idler arm, and inner and outer tie rods.

That said, it's probably the box.

We can still talk about it tho. I'd start by replacing the inexpensive parts. Idler arm for one. I'd start there and see if that helps.

That sounds a lot like the torsion rod valve in the steering box is worn out. If it's not leaking, do a power steering fluid flush and use the Lucas power steering fix and their fluid. It's good stuff and might help bring the box back to life, at least for a while.

So...anyone rebuild their boxes or do parts wear out that you cant replace? Work and home are busy...probably wont get a chance to dig in till Saturday....

Update....ordered rebuild kit...wrong kit showed up, figures lol. But....I had a chipped piece on the inside and some threads were stripped on the cap that adjusts the play in the steering. Wife and kids will be driving it so I Just ordered a new one. There definitely was an issue with it....I can rotate the pitman about halfway, then it get really hard to Move...then easy again. Guess I'll know for sure hopefully by this weekend.
