Cap, rotor, and 5 of the 6 plugs changed. My 3/8 universal is missing from my tool box. Without that the #6 plug has a better chance of changing itself than I do of getting to it. I'll tackle that tomorrow once I clean up the garage and find the universal. But.

Runs perfectly on 5 new plugs and wires.

Spent the afternoon working on the intake system. Put in a new rubber intake tube from the airbox to the manifold. Stock one was starting to crack.

Plugged the hole for the 1st dumb resonator using a 1½" threaded clean out plug and a hose clamp to lock the threads into the rubber.

Got into the fender and removed the 2nd dumb resonator. @Pauly, you were right. It did not have any holes in it. So the main intake is through the rubber thing with the IAT in it. I didn't have the right sized plastic plug for that. So it's still there.

Tomorrow I'm going to put my work pad on the engine bay so I can lay up there and do the 6th plug.

Good, I'm not crazy... Or, maybe I am, but I was at least right about the fender resonator!

I can definitely hear the intake more without all 3 of resonators removed. After I removed the big one in the fender, I could hear the induction noise from the supercharger even at idle. Not loud at all, but I can hear it sucking air in even at 750rpm.

(I just left both the original intake hole and the one for the fender damper open to allow more air flow for the supercharger. Not sure it makes a difference but plugging it seemed silly since both ports come from the same place).

If I was a normal rational person, I'd agree. However. Snorkel is in my future. So I'm going to seal it down to one intake access.

The cats are going to be the fun bit. Gonna follow @Pauly's lead. Relocate the downstream O2s behind the secondary cats. The catch is going to be what secondary cats won't ufcking melt because they're now primary. Might spring for CARB Magnaflows. They might be built well enough to put up with it. Gotta get through smog this summer. Then I'll have 2yrs to figure out how to make it right.

But in the meantime, the drivers side secondary cat has a ufckING AWFUL rattle right now. Don't know how much longer I can stand it.

I have spare OE secondaries if you want one.

I used Magnaflow 53005 for primary cats and 1 more for a 3rd cat after the y-pipe.

They're $106 online but won't ship to Colorado. My brother is visiting from Oklahoma in May. If you want to order and ship to him, he can bring them out.

^ this is the illegal way that I keep my truck legal without buying CARB catalytic converters.

I changed my primaries while having zero issues to prevent a possible engine loss the 2nd Gens are known for when the cats disintegrate and used Magna flow.

A year later, the passenger side cat started throwing efficiency codes (new upstream O2s, no other leaks or issues and no oil consumption.) and I messaged Magnaflow.

They would not even acknowledge that I was not having cat issues before changing and refused to warranty or even examine the failed cat.

Do with that what you will.

When I did this before, I used EPA midpipes and CEL Eliminators. I forget what brand of pipes. The cats lasted 3 months before they were completely ufcked. I ended up getting a shop to make custom midpipes with Flowmaster HF cats and that's what was on it when I sold it.

I've got a connect for stuff like that too. Also, I'd be curious if Summit wouldn't ship those cats here. I ordered the headers and cat'd h pipe for the Mustang after the CARB stuff kicked in and summit just said "thank you for your business." Those cats are NOT CARB.

I might take you up on the spare secondary pipes just to have a platform to put new cats into.

And I like your idea of the 3rd one after the Y pipe. That tracks as a reasonable way to get the NOX down.

My understanding is that their cheap shiat is cheap shiat. But the OE grade and CARB stuff is actually good. Also, thier stuff has a 5yr warranty. So it's surprising that they gave you the middle finger.

I know of a few people locally that had the issue happen on their gen1s and ruin the cylinder walls, but seems to be a rare occurence on gen1s. I did headers as soon as I could on my V8 Pathfinder. When I did, the passenger manifold was already replaced, and the drivers side started to crack but didn't leak. Apparently it's the cracked manifold that lets in air, causes the cats to run hotter and that's not they disintegrate.
