Also, I cut out the rust on the rear fenders, folded the fender lip and painted the areas with the rust killing spray paint

Picked up my OE parts today. Still no sign of my front soft lines tho.

ufcking. Corrosion. And ufcking Nissan.

I know! Let's put steel flare nuts into brass fittings! There's no way that could ever go wrong!

20210917_123925_copy_1612x763.jpg

So the lower flare nuts are completely rust welded in place. Cannot get them off. Why do I need to get them off? Because when I removed the old spaghetti brake lines on the top half that were corroded and broken, the rusty flare nut at the rear ufcked up the brass. So when I installed the new flare nut it wouldn't seal. So I need to replace the brass. But. I can't get those lower flare nuts out. At all. Torch, penetrating oil, lots of leverage, ufck, a big ass pair of vice grips. Nothing.

So ufck me. Guess I'm spending another $100 on brake lines. By the time I'm done the only brake lines that won't be 100% new is the one going across the engine bay to the front passenger side and the two short lines going from the M/C to the ABS pump.

shiats new, yo.

Also, fixed my supply line to the clutch. Ordered a new hose and a few clamps. Got a brass nipple from home depot. And voila, clutch has fluid.

It currently has the stock shaft in there. The pinion angle has been lifted, but yes. I know I'll need a new one. I'll probably just take the truck to a local custom shop and get one made.

Everything I've been reading about the braking system on these trucks (and ABS Nissans in general) is that if you take shiat apart at the ABS pump (which I did), or if you replace the rear hard lines (also did) that you need to use the Consult to vibrate the shiat out of the fluid to get all of the air out of the ABS pump. Normal bleeding can't do it. Will be taking the truck to the dealer on Monday.

I ran across this 08 OR in FB market place that was about 10-15 miles from my house. 183k, one owner, lady school teacher that appeared to have never been off the pavement. Service records looked “good”, but her husband thought the trans failed due to SMOD. UMMMM....OK @183 K ? So went to look and it had the correct radiator and definitely not SMOD ISSUE. It was priced real good, and & 99% sure transmission is good, driveline transfer case & locker all checked out good. Interior like new except steering wheel & foot brake pad. BUT, Driver side pre cat not good, rattling & probably clogged / breaking apart causing misfiring and not wanting to accelerate much over 35-45. Bummer, and negotiated a much better price & towed it home so hopefully no more cylinder damage, if any, would keep that possibility to a minimum.
Oh I spotted where it had been painted on the driver side, and yes she said she got hit. Driver door & LF fender. Decent repair, paint, I’ve seen better masking but for the $$ it was great.
Now what to do with it. I want to build a beast, but I’m to damn old, and 99% of all my shop tools were stolen about two years ago. (Presses, welders, lathes, jacks, boring bar, & 99% of my hand tools.)
Apologize for the “book”

Sounds like a decent find. What's your idea of "beast"?

Pipedream = Full Titan, with HP & TQ + driveline & suspension to turn 35+ rubber easily. Would love to SAS. The big hurdle is where I live, (SC) there are zero fab savvy shops around & all my fab equipment & tools were stolen several years ago, + I’m an old fart and have toddler grandkids too, lol.
Other downside is would have to triailer it. But,but, there’s no where to wheel around here. WTF am I thinking. A 69 YO thinking like a 19 YO

Well I'll be 61 in a couple month's but I still do stupid Shipt like I did in my teen's/twenty's . Why ? WHY KNOT !! when I watch people act there age [ especially the one's over 50 ] 90% of them are boring . I watch older friend's and relative's retire and hardly do anything then all of a sudden there gone ; UFCK THAT !! Now where were we ? Okay , so your 69 and thinking like your 19 . Well we have a 50 year discrepancy in you proper age right off the bat . So if you divide the 50 in half you get 25, so we'll add the 25 onto the 19 that your thinking like and come up with your proper age of 44 !! Don't pay attention to that date on your driver's license it's all an elaborate scheme to make you behave , thus the phrase [ act your age ! ] But the good new's is now that your proper age of 44 has been issued you can pretty much date anything 32 year's old and up and not be a dirty old man/cougar. Now that we have that cleared up I think's it's time for my nap !!

Just got a call from the dealership. Brakes are good. But. The service advisor told me that they can't get an alignment spot on and they want to rebend the upper control arms. Basically, one is too short and the other is too long.

I'm sorry. What? So I'm going over there in the morning to talk to the tech and figure out what the ufck he's on about. And they said something about the throwout bearing on the clutch. Which doesn't make any sense as that was brand new 30k miles ago. Time to figure out if they know what they're doing.

I miss both my Yamaha DT 250 b I had in high school and the 490 YZ I bought when I was 20 . Dirt biking thru the wood's was alway's an adventure . That's a pretty bike you got there, early to mid 70's ? . The rounded fin head remind's me of the Yamaha 360 I wanted but they were either discontinued/out of stock [ I don't remember] when I had bought mine.
