One step forward, two steps back.

Got one of the lowers in. Enough anti sieze to choke a horse.

Again, the astute among you will notice something missing.

It's going back to the shop that did the gears.

When I went to go put the passenger side LCA in I found this:

20210827_102536_copy_1612x763.jpg

The outer seal is leaking. And if it's doing that just sitting in the driveway, there's no way it's going to be good rolling down the road.

Now. I noticed some moisture on that end when I picked up the diff. The tech told me there was no oil in it currently and that was just residual. Furthermore, he said that they don't even mess with that seal as they just take that side off by separating the axle at the 4 bolt flange on that end.

Nevertheless, that seal is leaking. Interested to see who is going to pay to fix it.

Well ufck. Managed to snap a hard brake line in that spaghetti mess coming from the ABS pump. Drivers side corrosion strikes again! There's another $80 in parts I wasn't expecting.

At least so much of the brake lines will be new that it will never be a concern again.

Well shiat. I started working on those brake lines.

This is the hard line from the spaghetti bundle to the front drivers caliper.

Yeah. I don't trust that. And it's all of $20 to get new stuff. Ordered.

Master cylinder time!

You can see how much bigger the bore is on the Titan cylinder.

This thing is prepped and ready to go into the truck.

Once the sun goes behind the tree in the front yard I'll start working on getting the brake booster out.

Maybe you can find a rubber vacuum cap that will snuggly fit on the threads? Fill it with anti seize to prevent corrosion.
Dang it I don’t know why I didn’t think of that sooner. I have caps on my flipped ubolts “knowing” it’s gonna get ate up but thinking it’s worth it to not tear up the bump stop. I need to go add some.

Don't ever talk to me or my son ever again.

It took a bit of shoehorn to get it in there. But.

20210910_164220_copy_1612x763.jpg

Then to offer the new master cylinder

20210910_171133_copy_1612x763.jpg

There's a problem I didn't think of. The new brake booster is so much larger that the supply line for the clutch physically can't reach the nipple on the master cylinder.

20210910_171107_copy_1612x763.jpg

No biggie though. I'm going to go get some tube and a new nipple and just extend it. It's not a pressure line, so it's no big deal. Getting back there to replace the entire line would be TERRIBLE with the new booster in place.

So I did a thing. The front isn't back together yet. I still have leaky brake lines and my front soft lines haven't arrived yet. But I wanted progress.

So I put the front wheels back on so I could remove the rear wheels and put the alcans in.

It's tall! Really tall! I'd say borderline stupid tall! I know it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high. But it looks ufcking amazing. I'll adjust it down once I'm on level ground.

And the clearances. There is no way I could run a wider tire on these OE rims.

It's pretty perfect.

Anyway, it was hot as ufck today. So I had to build a shelter against the sun while I installed the Alcans.

Leaf spring are easy tho. These new bad boys are completely installed.

I'm not putting the rear down yet tho. I need to adjust the parking brake. Then of course, once I fix all of the leaking brake lines I'll have to take each wheel off and bleed everything.

Jesus. That thing looks awesome. When are you planning on doing the Rubicon?
