I thought so too at first. but its a guy who's been on the forum longer than I have (and there aren't many of those) and in his profile it says he's 63. Like, WTF dude?
Maybe he's referring to the fact that you said you were getting it instead of coming in and creating yet another thread asking which ones to get?

So I have a build thread on StangNet. Which I've been a member of since 99.

This feels really passive aggressive and I don't know why I'm being talked to like this.

Oh yeah. Super passive aggressive. ufck that dude. Of course it was decided without your input. Its my damn car.

I have found that sometimes the old timers on forums are dicks. And by old I mean age.

The valiant FB page is that way.

Progress report. This is the summer of Mustang. Ordered long tubes and CATd H pipe. We'll see if they actually ship it to me. They're not supposed to ship non CARB cats to Colorado. Crossing fingers. Also found a smog pump and all the brackets on ebay. I'm doing a thing.

I agree, even if nobody here is really a bronco guy, when I start building it, I'll be posting here, not the ford pages, you might do something that pisses them off, like a 9" instead of an 8.8.

they'd rather bitch and moan about chevy than pass on any real knowledge, if they have any

oh yeah, that blue is ufckin sick

We can get anything. If you need to ship it here and have me fwd it to your place, that can be arranged..

It's a cammed 306 (bored .30 over) with ported stock heads already. I might do a Cobra intake. Combined with that and the long tubes, that's all. No power adders, no heads, no rockers, etc. The concentration is suspension and handling.

At least look for some GT40 heads. I'll keep an eye out for a mid 90s exploder at my local yards. That cam does zero good with any stock Ford head except maybe GT40 and BOSS 302 heads (Cleveland) from the 70s.

gt40's used to be the cheapest easiest way to get an internet claimed 20 hp, gonna guess you probably have e7 heads, which suck, they don't flow at all, if you're gonna do a cam, might as well, heads, cam, and exhaust would make a world of difference in how that little engine runs, the early years of emissions weren't kind to any of the old v8's

the maybe as far as my gt40p's

years ago when I had a 302 powered pick up I was looking at ways to hop it up, we got a rolled explorer that I specifically had set aside for the heads and intake, but said pick up has been gone for years, and theres a good chance the explorer got crushed too. If they are there, the only sbf I have is a 351 replacing the 302 in my bronco and for what its gonna be, theres no sense in building a hopped up motor for it, I'll go look next time I'm down there

I can appreciate building it to corner, thats kinda where Im at with my mustang, 450 advertised hp is plenty, I'd rather put some bigger tires on it, do some chassis stiffening, and upgrade the brakes and launch thru and out of corners than I would gap fools on the street. Be lying if I said I don't ocassionally look at a whipple or turbo kit tho

Yeah. They're E7s. It already has a cam. I guess if I end up doing the intake, it makes sense to at least do those heads. Sigh. Freaking toys.
its a slippery slope I know, how well you're ported e7's do against gt40's I'm not sure, but if I can get you a free set of heads, you might as well enjoy an extra 40ish hp

E7s are a good start for Ford OE heads. They're better than about any other heads short of the old Boss heads.

But like stated, they're still petty pathetic. Building my buddy's 351W, we use E7TEs and my SMOG Chevy 350 heads were worlds ahead of modded E7s. GT40s are a MINIMUM if you're looking to get use of even a mild cam.

What's your cam specs?

no direct experience, but when I was searching for gt40's these were recommended

The problem with gt40/p heads is that they quit making them 20+ years ago and everyone in the game knows what they are, they're bought up and the guys that are selling know what they have

Yeah. For that kind of money, I'd spend a bit more and go straight aftermarket.

That said. My E7 had a back yard port job on them. Could tell when I pulled the lower before I pulled it from the donor car and dropped it into mine.

From what I can tell (phone) it seems it's not super taxing of those heads but at the top end of what I'd want to run on them. You're losing some top end with them vs a decent head but it's not awful.

The worst part of an E7 head is the exhaust port. They're severely lacking in that area. Ford tries to make up for their tiny ports by hanging the valve open extra long. It takes strong valve springs to deal with the 1.6 ratio rockers.

Do you know what valve springs are on your heads?
