Power Steering Pressure Sensor

I'm rebuilding the top of my engine (long story...after a blown head gasket). In taking it apart, and disconnecting the power steering pump, the pressure sensor on the power steering pump wires broke off the back of the sensor.

The original sensor looked like this (ish...first picture is stock photo of a back up light switch. Second photo are the wires from my original connector)

Attempting to find the replacement part, the "new" sensor looks completely different.

Has a smaller thread (does not fit into the original "banjo" on the pressure hose). No longer has wires, etc...

Does anyone have experience dealing with this? Or what I need to do? In looking at parts, it seems like Nissan changed parts (high pressure hose) half way through production of the first year (2000). X's produced up through 6/30/2000 had one part/design, and those produced 7/1/2000 after had another. It seems like the pressure sensor I can buy is for the "newer" style?

Any input is appreciated.

They changed the PS hose somewhere after 2001, I had the same problem with mine when I tried to rebuild the top end. The hose I ordered (my PS system was leaking like crazy) took the new sensor, so I just ran with the new one.

I'd either splice the old cabling back together, or just buy a new style PS hose. This is the one you need https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=4590963&cc=1374588&jsn=10 and, yes, it does run from the pump to the gear so you'll have to struggle running it around the front if you put the truck back together already.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. As I mentioned, in looking at ordering a new PS hose, there is a caveat that Xterra's produced prior to Jun 30, 2000 have he older hose. Mine (of course my luck), was produced March 2000, according to the door sticker.

That being said, as you said, I am probably going to have to replace the PS hose too...to accept the newer sensor. Unfortunately my old sensor wires broke off right at the base of the sensor (there is no wire to splice to, etc).

Thanks for the input!
