hello, i have been a long time fan of Xterras. I am looking at a 2004 supercharged automatic with 169k body seems pretty solid and interior is nice. Can anyone give me some pros and cons to these? Id love to hear some feedback before I bought one

Welcome to XN!

Upside on these trucks. As long as the regular maintenance is done on time and with OE parts, the vehicle should last forever. At 169k, it's coming up on its second timing belt change (every 105k) so you'll want to make sure that was done. If you can't verify the mileage then plan on doing it immediately. For the dealership to do it, it's about a thousand dollar job. The parts from the dealer (belt, water pump, cam seals, v-belts, everything) will run you between 4-500 if you want to do it yourself.

Since it's an SC motor, you'll also probably want to put a new knock sensor in.

Common issues to be aware of. The valve covers like to leak. It requires pulling the upper intake to replace them. But once done with some new RTV, it's no longer an issue.

The other common one is the exhaust manifolds cracking over time. A pair of Doug Thorley headers and an afternoon and it's solved.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

It's an interference engine, so if the timing belt breaks then valve damage is likely. If there are no records of it being changed, do it asap.
