PO171 (Lean condition, left cylinder bank)

Has anyone experienced a PO171 code with a Volant? This is the second time the CEL has tripped and I've pulled this code in a couple of months. I've only got 10k miles on this truck. Never once had this issue with my '08 X with the exact same intake. Checked that all the hose clamps are tight on the intake tube connectors, and the MAF sensor opening is sealed. Any ideas?

I honestly don't know if the intake is the issue, or if I may have an injector problem or something along those lines. Just seems odd that it's only on one cylinder bank. I suppose it could be a malfunctioning O₂ sensor.

I guess if I get it again, I won't clear the code before I put the stock intake back in and take to the dealer. Unless anyone has any other advice.

I don't have any real advice for your problem other than maybe check the connection on that O2 sensor. I got moisture in one recently but that caused a different code that indicated a possible bad sensor, not a lean condition. I can say with reasonable certainty the Volant can't cause that. Since all the air enters the intake together, anything happening before that should cause the same issues with all cylinders instead of just one bank. Sounds like you've got the right idea of putting the factory airbox on and letting the dealer have a look if it continues. It really sounds like it would have to be a vacuum leak on that side of the intake or a faulty O2 sensor.

Volant designed two different intakes for 05-08 and 09+, but the only difference is the 09+ has a hole cut in the box so you don't have to relocate the horns. That's rubbish if you ever want a snorkel. Anyway, the only change Nissan made under the hood in 09 was a new IPDM, so the 05-08 intake works the same in all 2nd gens.

I second on checking the o2 sensor. Never had an issue on my x but had the exact issue on my ranger, it was the downstream o2 sensor going/finally went bad.
