So I am wanting to bring my axle father forward. I KNow there isn't much room to move the steering box forward. Would it be a bad idea to shorten the pitman arm like 1/2 and inch?

Just as a question of geometry, you'd lose some turning radius by doing that. And seeing as how the pitman arm is already pretty short, the loss might be substantial.

Ok. I moved up my axle to the point where I want it and the drag link is angled backwards a bit now. It still clears the tie rod bar but it's close. Just don't know much about the y link system and how to best optimize them.

I ended up changing to a box with a forward facing pitman arm to get better clearances on mine.

Some old hardbodies and pathfinders had a shorter pitman arm

It drives just fine. And where it is mounted, 2 mounting holes line up and 2 new need to be drilled.

Ok cool. I may look into this then. Also might move it back closer to the coil hoop to minimize the forward angel.
