Post gear you have or want. Review the gear if you want.

I have a LowePro AW (All Weather) 100 Slingshot. Love this bag. It's durable, holds everything I need, and it has a waterproof cover.

What I want, is this. The LowePro Trekker AW 400 :w00t:

I have a D3000 and I desperately want a 200mm lens, a wide angle lens, and I dig that Timbuktu bag. Still, even with just the 18-55mm lens this camera does everything I could ever ask of it. It's a fantastic SLR for someone on a budget.

I'll be getting some use out of it :w00t: I drug that camera around a lot this weekend and I was nervous as all get out whenever it wasn't in my hands, so I'll be happy when that bag gets here.

I use Lowepro 160AW teamed up with my Nikon D7000 with either the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 lens, or the Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. I am waiting on the 200mm telephoto lens to be released by Tokina later this year, and I'll be picking up a Nikon 50mm prime lens too.

Bad news.... I got this camera for my Bday in may and its been great over the summer so far! I couldn't find it as we were leaving vegas that morning. I think the cart guy at the golf course stuck it in my golf bag because I found it today as I got the clubs out to play 18 holes today. Turned it on and found this... :(

Here is the replacement screen on ebay. My question is would this be easy for me to replace if I got the tiny screw driver to take my camera apart?

My brother in law fixed a camera like that with the same problem. On another note, my ipod screen did that when I moved to OK when I left it in the car. Too much heat cracked the screen. Lesson learned.

Just be happy is wasn't a MK2. My wife was filming for eckrich farms and her MK2 got knocked off the tripod by a kid. I almost threw up watching it fall.

Reviving a super dead thread.

Just ordered a Lowepro Flipside 400 AW backpack to go with my "new" Pentax k1000 camera.

Just now getting into photography. Bought a Nikon D3100 a month or 2 ago. Haven't used it much but I need to figure it out because I am the "photographer" for my sister's wedding in a few months.

Yah definitely sounds like you need to get some practice in.

Take many many pictures; do you have a dedicated flash? What kind of glass do you have? is it indoors or outside? That is a crop sensor, are your lens compatible? Show up early, (day before) and take test shots of the venue. A wedding is a lot of work, and make sure you can afoord to injure your pants, cause getting on your knees for angle shots will damage dress pants. I have done several, but will only do them for Family or friends now. Good Luck.

That is a lot of stuff I'm not really sure about lol The wedding is indoors. It came with 2 lenses.. 18-55mm and 55-200mm. The only time I've used it a lot was on our trip to Windrock a few weekends ago.

Your kit lens may not be fast enough to work inside, you need fast glass, and perhaps a dedicated flash and just set it to 'fill' light, a 50 MM 1.4 should be the cheapest lens, but very limiting distance wise: it is not a zoom at all (prime) A short or medium telephoto of at least 2.8 would be advisable. If I were shooting, I would be using the 16-35 (wide angle) and 24-70. Also, you need a second body as a back up. Cameras do break; and at inconvenient times. If yours locks up FOR ANY REASON, just before the old 'I do!' the bride may be a bit disappointed. Thats why you need a back up. And thats why I have two of the exact same camera, because when you shoot a lot you remember the controls without trying to remember where they are on the other camera. I have a second shooter to do the background stuff, (bride getting dressed) while I do the guys, and uusually have a thousand or more pictures to edit when its over.
But I am looking at it from the viewpoint of a pro, your sister knows you, and doing the best you can will likely be what makes her happy. Have fun, and good luck.

Depending on how "bridezilla" your sister is will determine how nervous you should be.

I've been taking more pictures of my family with my camera, most recently maternity pictures of my wife. I found out a little more about positioning of the subject and myself in relation to my light source this last trip. I am also learning that quantity is a must. You've got to take tons of pictures from all different vantage points because you may not realize that a whole "position" didn't work and you can't use any of the pictures from it. My next project will be baby pictures of my soon to be born son, and family pictures of the four of us.

I'm considering buying a remote because time delay is kicking my but, even when I set it to take 10 consecutive pictures. Can anyone recommend a remote for a canon rebel t3? I've found one with reviews I like that runs on a radio frequency rather than IR.

Macland is right where the light is coming from and what kind of light it is all make a difference. Try to keep the light behind you, shining at them if you can. You will learn that camera shake is the biggest enemy of good pictures. Even when a camera is locked down tight on a good tripod, just pushing the button, or the mirror slap can make a difference. Thats why we used a wired remote and mirror lock up. Cannon & Nikon build anti-vibration into their lens bodies, While Sony uses IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation) which moves to sensor to counteract vibrations. All of these costs are why the good lens choices are in the $2000.00 range. And if you need several of those for a shoot, it becomes about $20,000 for a full blown pro kit. Which leads to the prices those guys charge for a days work. And they will be spending several more days using expensive software to get the best results from their work. Fear not, Picassa 3 is free from google, and it will get you in the ballpark. Just look at getting a flash (not the on board one) and look into the cost of a fast lens. And be upfront with sis. Have fun with this, or she can just go spend a few grand and hire a pro; shucks, she may get the flash for you. :sure:
