P0462 fuel level sensor

my truck just started to throw me a p0462 code which is for the fuel level sensor but I don't know what that means? is it because its failed? not reading right due to some outside interference? dirty? what? it looks like my gauge is reading right, I always reference by miles driven on tank to where the gauge is and its within range so I don't know if it was a one time fault or not. I got it cleared to see if it comes up again but is it something that I should be worried about?

Hi Mr.Oompa,

I trolled around for some info on this. One thing that can trigger this code is a fuel level reading from the gas tank that is too low. I am not sure if this problem appeared during the time you have been working on your dash but they might somehow be related. You may want to try clearing the code after your dash is back together and see if it returns.
