P&P Engineering is doing a Group Buy on almost all our products. It is officially open and collecting orders as of this thread being posted. There will be a separate thread for each product to keep it more easily organized and discussion focused on the particular product.

Rock sliders will be a little different than most of our other products. We will not need 5+ for 1st gen to have a 1st gen group buy and 5+ for 2nd gen to have a 2nd gen group buy. Since the materials are all the same we can order material in bulk with 5+ of 1st OR 2nd gen confirmed.

*All of our sliders come with brackets that have holes to mount the sliders in 1 location for non-body lifted trucks, then allow you to move them up ~2" if you body lift the truck in the future. No need to choose. 1 set of sliders for life.
*All of our sliders CAN be made to interface with our fender protector system - shown in the picture for Gen1 TypeIII.

All pricing is done from the base, without powder coating. Then options can be added at additional cost. Base pricing and all options are discounted prices who's discount grows as each tier for that option is reached. Because we do not powder coat in house I need each tier to be reached for powder coating services to be able to give that discount on powder. I do not control the pricing of this and I do not mark it up at all. Cost of powder coat is always passed directly through. I actually lose money when you count my time and fuel to drive to/from the powder coater.

We have the ability to make ~20 pairs of sliders/week. Lead time on these is expected to be 2-3 weeks after the close of the group buy - or after reaching the 10 confirmed/deposited orders we will order our materials and start production. We will be able to turn these FAST. Example If you ordered powder coated sliders and we started production Feb. 1 you could expect to have tracking on your order before March 1.

Please allow an additional ~10-14 days for powder coat. We will be taking a LARGE order to powder coat so it may slow him down a little bit, but he has a huge oven so maybe not.

Pricing:
Frontier add $15 to the Xterra price

These sliders require no modification of the vehicle. All our rock sliders bolt on, using the OEM holes in the frame rails. They do not require any welding or drilling.

Mounting System
We have a thread all about it here:
http://www.xterranation.org/showthr...ineering-2nd-Gen-Rock-Sliders-Mounting-Points
We go a step farther than just shoving a bolt into the through holes. For the front and middle mounts we use a high strength steel pin to sleeve the frame. The pin is thicker than the DOM tubing used for the top rails and it is welded to our backing plate.

We then use a 5/8" grade 8 bolt to make the connection.
IMG_4078_1024x1024.JPG

There are 2 slotted holes in the frame. The same ones most people use to mount to buy just putting a ~1/2" bolt through. Difference Being we sleeve the hole in the frame with the high strength steel pin so it fills the vertical cross section.

Based on some ongoing testing we planned to discontinue bed lining.

Don't have any pics of the tread plate. It's similar to what (I think) calmini does with the simple facing up so you have some traction underfoot.

I'm out of the shop all week doing some OEM engine training. It will be a few days until I can get back to the shop and build options we haven't photographed yet.

Got the list started here.

Just a reminder, our 2x2 square tube for the main slider body is made from 3/16" wall tubing not 1/8" wall like others.

Our 2nd gen sliders require no drilling or modification and is the best mounting system in the business.

All our sliders fit standard body trucks and can be moved up to fit 2" body lifted trucks!

That is a new option. It hasn't been on the website yet. I will not it and we can add it to the balance due if that works for you?

The way our webstore works we will probably have to make a totally new item to add to the cart for it. We are out of available options to build into the slider item.

You may have me pending the price of raw materials here. I'm not knocking your product at all, but its the satisfaction of building them oneself I'm after.

Totally understand!

An option for some people that may help them out is delivery. I am planning to be at:

NOAS - Freeze your nuts off @ Harlan, KY Feb 7
GLX spring fling at the badlands in Attica, Indiana - April 11
SExterra spring fling whenever they post that date (supposed to be april??)

We just hit 10 confirmed and made the price break with the addition of a 2nd gen Fronty!

Can we get 20?

Any updates on total ordered? I think I'll be in when my tax return gets here.

Sitting at 13. I think there's several frontys waiting on confirmation of some measurements by our first king cab and that could move the total pretty quickly.

I would not be surprised if we were over 20 when this closes.

Schedule update:

The guy who does the plasma cutting until we get our machine up and running is out of town. We got our steel in and have started producing. We are scheduled to get everything together EXCEPT the mounting brackets between now and when he gets back. on the 21st. Then all we have to do is weld the brackets on. Bare will ship the week of the 23rd-27th once final payments have been received on them and powder coated will go to powder that week and ship immediately upon returning and reciept of final payment. Expecting a 7-10 business day lead on powder. That should put everyone's sliders on their door by mid-march.

Think I am caught up on the list. Will be updating the original list but wanted to bump for 18 on the list. There are 10+ ordering powder coat so powder coat drops to $50. 14 confirmed deposits.

We wanted to updated everyone on the progress on this Group Buy.

First of all let me say we are blown away by the response here. We already have more deposits down than we expected total orders - and the deposits are ~90% in.

We have been building already to keep on the timellines have have laid out. It's going to be a challenge but at this point we are still committed to what we have said. So in case you missed it let me reiterate.

Bare orders are expected to ship Monday March 2nd* Yes, the Monday following the close of the group buy. It does help that we are light on bare orders and heavy on PC'd orders.

PC'd orders we are taking to the powder coater on Saturday, Feb 28*. We typically see a 7-10 day turn around for powder coated items, however we do not typically send this many off at once and are unsure what that will do to that number. However, our powder coater is good and is equipped to handle large orders as he does OEM work for the RV industry. We wanted to put a warning out there but don't anticipate this timeline sliding too much. That puts on on schedule to ship all* powder coated orders on Monday, March 16.

*The asterisk above denotes the following. These statements apply to orders/deposits that have been made through the P&P website as of 11:59:59PM 2/16/15.

We purchased material for 25 sliders when the list was at ~9 members and expected to have a little bit left over. We currently have 25 deposits paid.

Any orders/deposits coming from now until the end of the group buy will be made in a second product run and will be delivered at a later time - ASAP but still TBD.

***Cliffs notes***
Expected ship dates for current deposits:

Bare - March 2
Powder coated - March 16

Again, we thank you all for the overwhelming response and are working diligently to stay on our original targets - including late nights and weekends.

I want in on this, but I'm still waiting on info about the SEXC info about the Spring Fling and delivery info. If I can pick them up there, pending y'all attending as mentioned, I'd get them PC'd. Otherwise, I'd have them shipped raw.

99% sure we will be able to deliver sliders to the spring fling. Either by our attendance (50/50 at this point) or by a a customers attendance who would be able to bring them for us.

Its less about y'all as it is me, lol. There are two weekends in which I cannot make it, and in the past, the Spring Fling has been one of those two weekends.

We've been waiting to announce this for a while and our shipment just came in.

Our powdercoater was able to get touch up pens for us that match the exact semi-gloss color we use.

As a thank you gift we will be including one touch up pen with all powdercoated slider orders.

Enjoy!
