Output shaft speed sensor

Xterra sat for a while at the mechanic's for AC work. As I drove away, the Service Engine Soon light came on throwing code P0720 - Output Shaft Speed Sensor fail. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on the net about this sensor. I replaced what I believe to be the sensor. It's the last sensor on the transfer case (because 4wd).
Advanced Auto Parts had the correct match with part sn7152.

After replacing the sensor and clearing the code, the light and code came back on after a short drive.
Any guesses? I'm trying to track down a connector to replace that now.

*Neither the tranny nor spedo is having any issues, but the code needs to go away for emissions testing.

Check your grounds on top of the intake. They _shouldn't_ have messed with the rest of the circuit, but I can see them working with the intake for some reason, and that sensor grounds to the top of the intake.

Thanks for the quick response. I traced it back to the intake ground. It's secure.

I did just notice that this lower pigtail on the passenger wheel well seemed to be less than plugged in...

*photo shows it plugged back in

That would do it too. Those run to the transmission. Figured they _shouldn't_ be in that area, so they wouldn't have been messed with.

Cleared the codes. No light so far but I need to put a few more miles on it to be sure.
Thanks muchly for starting me on my hunt. Really appreciate it, Muadeeb.
