So it took me about a year and a half to find this truck, however after many hours at dealerships and scrolling through page after page - I found her! Funny part? The dealership was literally right next door to my complex. This was my first 4x4 vehicle I was to own, figured dad's Tahoe when I was 16 didn't really count. After meeting a few guys over at TNX and going on a few runs, the mod bug bit me hard.

Of course, the first thing I do? Get stuck in mud . . .

Year: 2007

About time you had a build thread. Digging the red on black accents.

hahaha! I never did one over at TNX or CX. I figured it was time after I did the tires. Also, have a bunch of other DIY mods I plan on doing that I am sure others will be interested in. First one? Light bar - have a pretty decent plan to knock out for that.

Glad other people are digging the red accents! I have gotten a few comments in the past, only negative thing someone has said is that it "looked kinda ricey" - but to be fair to them, they drive a jeep so their judgement might have been clouded.

It has been interesting trying to tie in the red without going overboard.

I have a small CB laying around that I'm eventually going to put in the tray like yours. How hard was it to pull everything off to run the power?

Pulling everything out and connecting the power was the easy part, maybe like 20 mins. The hard part was getting the radio to fit under the waterfall. I had to cut a decent amount of the back of the tray out. You can't tell when you look at it and I have repeated it for another person. If you have a dremel tool it's really easy. I knocked out my whole install in like, 45 mins? That was with a handsaw too.

Cool. It looks like a clean installl to me, never thought about having to cut some of the tray, but I probably will have too. Haven't bothered to take the CB out there and see if it fits, I just assumed it would. Thanks for the info.

no problem at all - the other hard part was screwing the radio bracket into bottom of the waterfall. The angle sucks big time. But the radio stays out of the way nicely with easy access while driving.

I know how you feel. I am fighting the same battle with the orange, hammered black and matte charcoal.

So what you are doing with the orange is kinda what I had thought to do with my red. But then I had a few beers and was like "man, let's do the grill red . . ."

And here we are, no regrets at all.

I dig what you've done to it.

I'll probably do the middle cross bar of my grill orange and then the background "mesh" area in black, but that is about it for now I think.

And the beer thing... don't drink while shopping on eBay or you may end up with a snorkel, tail light guards, light rack and some Hellas showing up at your door step with no recollection of ever purchasing them...

^^ beer and 1-click shopping at amazon is how I got my CB radio actually.

If the weather ever can keep it's mind straight, I am going to put a new custom grill in. Since my current one has seen some "action" (tree on a trail and a good ole' RVA bump-tap).

I like your cb location. I wouldn't mind mounting one there but I don't want to remove that whole console area to relocate the trans temp gauge I have there.

Hey man, didn't know you were over here too. Good to see you! I had that hooked up actually for the runs we did in May and June last year. Super convenient, plus the PA speaker in the grill makes it more fun, ha!

That's the trick. There is a lot to be said for subtlety

Tell them they look too "everyman."

I mean, the person who said it drives a jeep. So they already had some personal issues to deal with, lol.

I did finally get some pictures taken of the new mods. Just need to load them.

I have added:
2x 6inch LED Bars in front bumper mouth
Hefty Skids - Rad, Engine, T-Case
Camera Mounts
matching shovel and axe

I think that is it for the moment.

Obi, you said you had to remove the hitch to install the Rear Recovery points? I won a set at WENT and want to install them but I don't want to lose my towing option either

The RPs plug into the same holes as the hitch does so they take it's spot really. Took me looking under there to figure out you can't just get longer bolts and put them on the outside of the frame and keep the hitched installed on the inside. If you were to find a hitch set up that was shorter across, maybe you could get the longer bolts and put the points, then the new hitch there.
But at the moment the only way I know of having good recovery points and keeping a hitch is getting a whole new metal bumper with them installed.

Hmm.... I mean if I have to fabricate to keep the hitch, might as well have someone fabricate a full bumper. That bums me out, I was really looking forward to putting them on. I wonder if you can install them on the outside instead of the inside with longer bolts...

I thought about doing the outside too, but there was not enough room if I remember correctly. Or, maybe it was that you can't do it because the bolts screw in, there is no nut or anything. They literally screw into the frame if I remember.

Curious if you could somehow rid of that and just have a hole and just get longer bolts and nuts.. Oh well, I'll see if I can't figure something out

Also - thank you Ryan by the way. Made me realize I forgot to include pics of my AAL and spacer install.
I don't think I have added anything else just yet . . .
Pics to come later!

Just remember (6 months later) I never posted updates made to the MX.

So right before WENT I installed a nisstec AAL and 3in coil spacers.
This is her at WENT actually.
