Obd help needed

04, 3.3L, NA, manual

Let’s start off asking for help, here’s my code list. Any advice is appreciated! P0152, P1444, P0134, P0132, P0328, P0462, P0300, P1444, P1143, P0132, P0152, P0328, P0462. I think I win for the most codes!!!

throttle response is jumpy, gas mileage very terrible, otherwise runs great. My guess is tps is bad. I messed with it today and the live data on my scanner looks like it drives- lots of dead spots. Want to get mileage up.

Well lets try and thin this out some

P0132, P0134 and P1143 are all code for the bank 1 o2 sensor

P0152 is the bank 2 o2 sensor

P0300 is a multiple cylinder misfire detected - usually has other code like p0302 to tell you which ones

P0328 is the knock sensor - I think this is a common issue? Not familiar with the gen 1's as much

P0462 is the fuel level sending unit

P1444 is the evap system canister purge valve - I see this mostly with a failed valve which is not shutting off vac. which can cause running issues

None of the codes are for the TPS can still be an issue though.

Just going off the codes - I'd say probably needs a bank 1 o2 sensor and evap purge valve. I'd fix those 2 clear the codes and see what she does. The P0300 without any cylinders being singled out and it running fine could be a intermittent or fluke issue. Same for the P0152 could be another bad sensor but I'd give it a chance before replacing it, see if it resets after the clear. The knock sensor like I said I think is a known issue might do a search on that. The P0462 has nothing to do with running issues but could cause " bad mileage" if you're just going of how fast the needle drops. I know sending units are a issue on 2nd gens.

02 Sensor
Evap Solenoid (charcoal can solenoid)
Knock Sensor (its back by the firewall and a PITA to change)
Also 02 Sensor
Also 02 Sensor
Fuel level sensor (there is a recall/TSB for this. Look up your VIN on the recall database. Dealership should take care of it)
Ignition problem. On a 1st gen, could simply be plugs/wires. Could also be distributor. The bearing likes to wear out and cause wobble on the rotor which means a new/rebuilt distributor.
Also 02 Sensor. Seems like you need to replace all of them.

You had a few duplicates in there.

So it looks like you need 02 sensors, check on the TSB/recall, a charcoal can solenoid, and a tune up (possibly a distributor).

Thanks so much everyone.

It has newish cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. I like the distributor theory. I’ll check for wobble and wear.

I had just replaced all 4 O2 sensors with some cheapy Amazon ones idk if they’re garbage off the shelf or my cats are plugged at 160k. More O2 codes since replacing them than before! If they’re plugged what’s the easy diagnosis? No emissions here so I’d like to delete all the cat crap. Any links to kits for that? Does it help power / hurt how smooth it runs?

I have a slow fill issue at the gas pump so I tried blowing out the evap system with air and busted some plastic Tee Wye back there. Still fills slow. I’ve no emissions in my county so I’m interested in deleting that purge canister crap - please point me to the step by step thread.

Thanks for everything, nice to have help!

If I was a betting man, I'd say that's likely the issue. I've learned that with critical engine components like this, it's best to just pony up the cash for OEM. otherwise it ends up causing more problems than it solves.

This. Get NTK O2 sensors.

Get a used evap can on eBay for like $30. Solves that problem. Doug Thorley makes long tube headers that eliminate the primary cats. You need O2 spoofers to make the engine happy after that.
