O2 Sensor reads incomplete?

I've had what I thought was a bad cat for a while now but yesterday when I checked the code again with my scanner I noticed that the catalyst shows complete but the O2 Sensor reads incomplete under the P0420 code.

Anyone have any idea if that's just the O2 sensor that needs replacing?

That's the O2 test sequence. There are a certain number of full heat cycles it has to go through to perform a full test IIRC. And some features on Torque aren't supported by our ecm. Let me check mine this evening.

Thanks for taking a look.

I assumed when I kept getting the P0420 almost immediately after clearing the code that the issue was the cat but this is interesting.

Sorry that took so long. Pulled it up this morning and mine is showing Complete so I'm not sure now.

Are you running short trips where the O2 sensors aren't getting up to temperature?

That screen is for emissions testing. Aka: crap the state (may) make you go through to ensure your vehicle is running "properly". The O2 system needs about 50 to 100 miles to complete its cycle, depending on driving style, and it stays in an "incomplete" state so someone cannot clear their codes and race to the inspection again to get a pass.

0420 -- replace the cat, or get a cel eliminator / spark plug nonfouler. You can try relaxing the sensor, but (I think) you get a different code if the data is always high or low.
