No reverse

So I've got a 2004 terra 4x4 auto and I've lost reverse and I've had people telling me different things when I lost it it didn't make any sort of noise or anything so I don't think I broke the reverse band and others have told me it could be a solenoid. Any ideas I hate having my terra yard bound

Voodoo slushboxes are not fun if you're not comfortable taking it apart. There's no band for reverse, only D2-D4, so it's either contamination in the valve body or a damaged clutch pack. Best suggestion is to take it to a transmission shop.

Would a full flush and service help or should I just let someone fix it right

With it being 18 years old, it would appreciate some rebuild love. I also have to assume very high mileage, so a flush could potentially cause more damage since clutch material could've found their way into seals and flushing could remove that causing leaks. Especially if no maintenance, even a drain and fill, has been performed previously. Drain and Fill is the most I would do outside a shop at this point.
