Hey guys.. Thought id try to post up somethings I have learned from working at the Nissan Plant in Smyrna, TN

So we are 65 days out from the First Infinity Crossover being built in America.. This is a big deal to have an Infinity built in the US. They tried to do this with the big SUV in Mississippi a few years back and they quality was just not up to par so they pulled it back to Japan. I have seen maybe 40 JX's in test runs. They look like a sweet SUV. Sadly they all will be crushed. Tweaking the line.. The JX has a line of its own.. Now you wouldnt think this is a big deal.. But the Xterra, Frontier, Pathfinder, and Suzuki truck are all built on the same line.. So for this to be on a line of its own is a big deal.

The more and more I see the Electric Blue on the Xterra and Frontier the more and more I want one :) It is a sweet color...
If you havent seen it..

I seen a batch of Middle East Xterras today.. Very strange to see them with out the roof rack and different badges..
Im assuming its too hot there for the roof racks.. Im guessing they would melt lol..

Well thats all for today...

That's awesome man. I'd be stoked to see that stuff. I hope you're the first Xer to see the new Xterra when it hits the line. I'm sure if you see anything that hasn't been revealed yet though there'd be serious ramifications.

I know what you mean by crushing the first vehicles off the line. Shortly after the Canton, MS plant was built my step-dad invited us out to watch them crush about 50 Xterras. It seems ridiculous that they would just crush them, but any bugs in the production should be worked out by the first 50 vehicles. It was so barbaric, they were doing everything they could to destroy them, like cave-men trying to destroy a rock. I guess they were harder to crush than they thought. They had a large steel plate they were droping on them, an excavator and a front loader. I just wish I could have had just one.:sorrymate:

We have to do that all the time.....but we try and have fun with it. Whenever the manufacture comes out with a new model of motorcycle the prototypes and pre-production motorcycles end up going to the race teams for use during that season. After the season is over they have to be shipped back so they can be crushed. The easiest way for us to ship them back for destruction is to take them apart and box them up in pieces for shipping. Once disassembled we have what we call the Racebike Mechanic Special Olympics. Some pics from the frame toss for distance event.

The prototype in question that escaped an entire season of racing unscathed only to die a horrible death at the hands of those who built it.

Many different styles are used in the frame toss for distance......The Bowler

And finally putting the frame out of it's misery by knocking a whole in the steering head with a punch.

Yeah it's a shame to destroy a perfectly good race bike.....but we have a lot of fun doing it.
