Just found you folks! I need some guidance from the community wisdom.
2014 Xterra Pro-4X with 85,000 miles (low mileage: mainly drive it to go camping with a small trailer. Less than 1000 miles per year.
Turned it on after sitting for a week and the check engine light came on and the engine was running rough. I thought it just needed to warm up. Fuel cap is tight. Last fill-up of gas from reputable dealer. After 3 minutes the light went out until I started driving. Light back on and blinking. Drove for 3 miles to the store and back. I’ve been trying to figure out what it could be. Tried to use the gas pedal “code trick” but won’t activate. Would take it to the local dealer but they charged me $1400 to get my A/C running again and I am reasonably confident that they screwed me based on my experience. Any advice on what it probably is? Can I drive it to the dealer?
