New Years Resolutions

We all make those promises to ourselves about what we're going to do differently over the next year. It's usually something noble and in all reality would make ourselves better, but not many people make it the whole year successfully.

I challenge you guys to post up your resolution here and check back in from time to time or at least next year to share your progress.

My resolution is classic but necessary. I'm going to lose 15 pounds through exercise. If I don't lose the weight but instead lose the fat and gain the muscle I'll consider it a success. I really just need to lose my mid section which adds to risk factors involving heart trouble.

P90X is your friend. (well not really, it's ultimately brutal and sucks really bad, lol). But I lost 45lbs in 90 days and built crazy muscle and abs I never knew I had, lol. (just a thought)

My resolution is to stop working 18 hour days, and spend more time with my wife and son.

I know you'd recommended checking out craigslist and asking fb friends so I think I'll try that out. I don't really want to spend too much on it because I do have a friend with a gym that I could go too if I wanted to spend a lot. However whatever I spend on the P90X I'd own it and could use it anytime. My friend charges $7.50 a session so that adds up quickly.

I've got another friend here in town that has it so maybe he'd let me buy it off of him or rent it from him.
Edit: He's got it digitally so he said he'd hook me up :) I'll be starting my self punishment soon:rollineyes::sorrymate::shocked::dies::tears: I'm stoked and scared.

It really is a love-hate relationship, lol. I'm on week 4 of my second time around, and I will have to say, it's a fair amount easier the second time through.

Remember, you only get out what you put in, so really really go for it, and you'll get great results. (When I started out, I was only going for 15lbs also, and ended up dropping 45lbs). Also, feel free to email me if you have any questions at all, anytime. (I have a few tricks to make it easier at the start and get better results in the end)

I might actually take you up on that. I guess I'll be starting around the 5th because that's when I can get the copy. Did you do the diet change and everything?

I'm sitting at 170 now so if I lost 15 I'd be at 155 and I'd hope to balance out around there with muscle, lean muscle mostly.

Yeah, well at my 170 I can grab two fist fulls of stomach lol. I guess the turning point was seeing the pic of myself from that KC135 flight I was on. It was taken close enough and when I enlarged it I got way too much of a close up of the fat I'm carrying in my face. Not too sound vain or anything but I know I'm going to have an inordinate amount of pictures taken this year with the baby and all and I don't want people to look back years from now and the first thing they say is either wow you were bigger then. Or worse, you were skinny then. I need to set an example of health for my children and my wife.

Eating right is about 80% of getting it to work. I didn't follow their diet though. I made up my own. Lots of protein throughout the program and after is a must, or your body will start burning off the muscle you are working so hard to build. Also, almost no carbs in phase 1, add some good carbs in phase 2, and lots of good carbs in phase 3, (because you'll need all the energy you can get, lol)

Dang, no carbs is gonna be hard lol. I'm down to give it a shot though. I think the diet part will be harder for me than the exercise.

Anybody else have a new years resolution?

Yes, the diet part is harder than the work out, lol. Your going to want to be between 1200-1500 calories a day. Low carbs sucks, but Phase 1 is only 30 days, you can do it, lol. Also you need to cut out just about all sugars that aren't fruits. You're going to retrain your bodies metabolism to be like it was when you were a teenager. Also you need to eat something about every 2 hours. Now after the program, I can eat just about anything I want (within reason of course), and I don't gain any weight, my body just burns it right off.

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to walk at least 1,000 miles this year. The other is to read 100 books. In 2011, my goal was to try 100 new beers, met it in June, so I decided to and succeeding in trying 200 instead.

Mine is just to make more money this year than I did last year. The mod bug is unsatisfied with my income. :(

Hey, I lived there for a while. I went to the high school there part of a school year while staying with my aunt.

My News Years resolution is to stop smoking and Not to take any crap from anyone. Well, I'm married, so at least I haven't smoked since new years. :D

Yeah that little detail throws the "not taking crap from anyone" out the window. 1 out of 2 ain't bad!

Bummer Mac, lol. Well, the plus side is, you can always try again, lol.

I'm in my 6th week of P90X once again (this is the third time through now). I've come to the conclusion that I'm basically just going to do it every winter, then I can just take the rest of the year off (with basic fun exercise, biking, hiking etc...). I've maintained my loss for 2 years now and it's been awesome. I dropped 25% of my body weight in 90 days the first time, and I've never looked back, (or gained it back, lol). It's been quite the lifestyle change, and worth every brutal moment, lol. There's nothing like going from size 36 pants to size 30, and going from XL to Med shirts in just a few months. Buying all new clothes was a lot of fun.

However, i did fail my other resolution from last year, which was to stop working 18-20 days. This is again a goal this year.

Yep, i had a little one as well when I started, that's why I had to do my workouts in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep, lol. (I actually still do it this way.)

The plastic one started a cool thread just for Xterra plans if you want to contribute there.

I figured I'd bump this one for re upping resolutions for weight loss and exercise *cough I didn't accomplish a dang thing*

Stay consistent with hitting the gym at least 5 days a week been going 6 weeks now some days twice a day but at least 5 days a week it has been working great
