New Xterra Owner X2!

I am prepping to do major work on my toyota 4wd and was looking for a cheap/interim vehicle to move parts and go camping for the summer. Is there a better deal going than an xterra right now? I don’t think so! Two days of searching and I came across a black one owner 01 4x4 manual.

A couple weeks down the road I came across a listing for a too-cheap 02 4x4 auto SC with an engine knock to donor supercharger parts to my 01, however the 02 is way too clean to part out!

Both cars have been driving great (the knock disappeared immediately), but I lost reverse in the 02 yesterday, which is a heartbreaker because I hate autos and I like the car a lot more than the 01. Both were cheap enough to be parts cars, I’m thinking I will manual swap the 02 SC.

I’ve done around ten manual swaps in my life but exclusively on BMWs. Can the auto transfer be used on a manual box? It appears that way in photos.

Looking forward to making something cool from at least one of these cars!!

I'm like 99.9% sure that the front case adapter is different however you can swap them between cases once you have them out.

Also nice X's!

From the FSM they look they should swap.

Thanks for the info! I was able to get the SC smogged and registered but the black one just will not shake P0505. I think I’m going to put my eggs in the SC basket and get what I can for the black one unregistered. Such a shame because it drives so well and is already manual.
