I don't have 750 available right now. I'll have to hope it stays that price for a while. Even at a grand, it's cheaper than the ARB, since there's no need to deal with the compressor as well.

Uhm....they also claim to have one for the M205 and R200A. Which is amazing, if true. I need to know more information about this.

I already have air in the truck, but it's still $1000 for an ARB locker and then another $100 for the mini reservoir that the solenoid goes to. ARB, might be stronger, but....
to install it is a very expensive ordeal and if your installer ufcks up and it loses air for any reason..........

I'd much rather have an e-locker than air, personally. Seeing as how I'm still open diffs in the X, this is a definite possibility. I still have the Lokka that I've not had installed yet.

So I've been researching this. TRE is a Chinese company that looks like their air lockers are ARB knock offs. However, If all they're doing is copying ARB then what's up w/ the E-lockers that no other company seems to offer. Did they just adapt an electronic actuator to the knock off ARB design?

There is a long history about these chinese knockoffs, I 100% steer clear of them and urge everyone here to do the same.

I'll add to this since I did go with their lockers, but for the M205 and R230. I did a bunch of research and found they were popular overseas in the Suzuki and Patrol trucks. Apparently it's an older ARB design that they use. At the time they were the only ones to offer a locker for the 2.9 and 3.36 ratios. Going the ARB route would require some sort of machining for what we can gather is for pinion clearance. Only one person has done it, details are vague and no ones has been able to get in touch with said person since. It was my initial plan to go that route when I bought the R51. One shop that apparently did them in the past gave me a hard time, I think he through I wanted them done shortly despite it being a winter project with a separate set of diffs. He also said he was going to get out of installing them all together. I never heard back. A another shop quoted me the F-Off price of C$1800 per locker, no price estimate on the install but it was all on my and my risk if it didn't work, and told me I should SAS with Toyota axles instead. I should of known better walking it as I didn't have a Jeep or a Toyota. I then had discovered the TRE's them through Mark Treleaven who had recently done it in his gen2 Frontier. He convinced me to do that way, especially not having to deal with issues with air in cold climates.

The shop that did them had plenty of experience with the Z diffs so the R230 went in without issue. The M205 locker was in the initial batch with axle shaft retention issues, and with all the Re&Re's to figure it out t ended up costing me a casing. not uncommon to mess the threads on an M205, but that's just my luck anyway. The guys that did the install said they were impression with the quality of the lockers and spider gears themselves.

They got installed into the truck this past spring. They also draw about 1.1amps each, much less then I was expecting. I haven't had many opportunities to use them yet, but when I do it's amazing the difference. I had never driven anything with lockers beforehand. I think there's a few gen1's who have one, one for sure at least. Sure it's not an ARB, but cost does come into play, and I also wonder why E-lockers aren't more prominent in the industry. Sometimes supporting competition gets the big names to move their butt a bit to innovate a bit more then run solely on name and reputation. The Nissan community will complain there's little options and support, but when there are new options it gets put down and criticized. Cost is definitely something to consider. I'm not rich and will spend it where I can, if I can, but I have to pick and choose my battles and work to get the best bang for my buck, especially in Canada where everything is significantly more expensive and Nissan aftermarket parts usually need to come in from the USA. I'm not trying to be a spokesperson for TRE either, but I also feel the need to share my experience with their products as few have, on this side of the pond anyway.
